IV. primary sources

Qur’an: Qur’an or the holy Qur’an, is the main book in Islam and first primary source of Islam. All Muslims believe that it is the word of God. God verbally revealed the holy Qur’an to the Islamic prophet Mohammad over a period of twenty-three years, and all Muslims follow the provisions of the Qur’an on their religion, moral behaviors and social life. The holy Qur’an is divided into 30 chapters, which are then divided into verses. Qur’an has mentioned a verse about the contracts and how the Muslims should be committed to it and it is “ O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts”. This verse tells all people who believes on God to commit and fulfill to all contracts with all people.

The Sunnah: is a record that is verbal about the acts and sayings of the Islamic prophet Mohammad through various reports from Mohammad’s companions. The Sunnah is the second primary source of Islamic law, and also we can define the Sunnah as a guide, a path and a way of life. All Mohammad’s practices and habits have become a model to follow by Muslims. The prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said: “(Ensure me six of yourselves, I guarantee you paradise: be truthful in your words, and if you promised…. etc.). Thus, being truthful and committed of your promises and contracts is one of the most important things in Islam that is why Qur’an and Sunnah have mentioned it.
