Virtual Team Success (DeRosa & Lepsinger, 2010) is based on a 2008 study conducted by the authors involving 48 virtual teams in 16 organizations spanning several industries. As a result, the book is linked to research and appropriate for graduate studies ( Details of the study are provided in the appendix). Statistics cited in many of the chapters are taken from this study. At the same time, the authors have attempted to write the book for practitioners. It is written to be a go -to guide for managers and lea ders. Each chapter stands alone. You can turn directly to a chapter that addresses an immediate need or interest. Note in the Introduction on page xxvii there is a quick reference guide for using the book. You can find a challenge or question of interest a nd turn directly to that chapter. The book will be used at a text in GM500, GM501, GM502, and GM503. In each of these courses, there will be a Team Assignment in Unit 4. Sections from this book will be linked to that Unit 4 in those courses. The focus of the Assignment will be determined by the assigned unit reading; however, this book will be used as a part of the Unit 4 Team Introduction as a means of providing best practices and support for your virtual team.
