Graduate Research Synthesis

For this assignment you will need to find five primary research articles on a topic related to collaboration with professionals in schools (i.e., pyramidal training, Behavioral Skills Training, bug-in-ear coaching, performance feedback). These articles must be printed in a peer-reviewed journal and use a single-subject design. You cannot use group design work or qualitative work. You cannot use practitioner papers, policy papers, or literature reviews. You will write a research synthesis introducing the topic, analyzing the research, and discussing the findings. The paper will be evaluated using the following rubric:

Introduction

The paper includes a thorough (2–3 page) introduction defining the topic, providing a rationale for why topic is important to examine, and outlining 2–3 questions you want to address in the paper. This should include 3 additional references from peer-reviewed journals.

Article Analysis

Each of the five research articles has its own paragraph that provides:

  • A thorough description of the methods of the study (e.g., single subject design, how many participants, dependent variable…etc.).

  • A summary of the authors results and discussion (i.e., what did the researchers find and what did they conclude about it).

  • A statement about whether you think the study was done well with a justification and whether you agree that the findings support the conclusions with a justification.

Discussion

The paper includes a thorough (2–3 page) discussion including the 2–3 most important things that you conclude from the group of articles together, 2–3 recommendations for practitioners, 2–3 recommendations for future research on this topic, and a conclusion.

APA formatting

Text, heading, and references all provided in APA formatting

Annotated Bibliography

Three points will be deducted for not turning in an annotated bibliography with the full citations and a one sentence description for each of the 5 research articles.
