Running head: WRITING PLAN

My main argument and the main point that I am trying to make for this essay will be is higher education necessary for management positions? For instance, careers such as a management position, which requires technical skills; further, higher education being essential for the country’s competitiveness and ability to address the threats of globalization. This argument is based my major, which is Human Resource Management. Human Resource Management demands special and technical skills to execute its requirements of a role.

The three possible key points to support the argument are following. The first key point is higher education subjects a person to career growth and development. The second key point is higher education opens a person for positions that require specialized and technical skills. The third key point is higher education positions a person to be competitive on the global labor market. The key points support the main argument through highlighting the benefits that possibly attribute to higher education.

The primary demographic audience will be students graduating from high school and current college students. The potential challenges I may face addressing this audience will be, first, the level of language used to present ideas about the argument. The level of language used should ensure that the targeted audience receives the intended message. However, this will be a challenge because my targeted audience entails persons with different levels of education. The second challenge will be to arouse interest in the argument on the essence of higher education. Also, advise them that the decisions they make today will affect their tomorrow. Earning a graduate degree is not a guarantee that a person will get a job in management with an excellent salary. Although, such a position will provide them with job security. Convincing an audience with different perspectives on education along with life circumstances about the importance higher education can possibly present challenges as many of them have witnessed individuals getting a degree and remaining unemployed with nothing to show for it but high student loan debt and dead end jobs. However, the same audience has seen people without education doing well for themselves and their families.

The primary goal of the argument will be to convince the audience of the importance of higher education in a career, in addition to, ensuring that a country is competitive as well as capable of addressing threats of globalization. Another goal of this essay will be to convince the audience on possible hardships of having basic minimum education without higher education.  For this essay to be successful in addressing the two goals, the essay must present clear, precise ideas that argue on the importance of higher education on a career. Another requirement is the need for the essay to understand the audience. The comprehension of the audience will be crucial in ensuring that the language of the essay reflects the targeted audience.

The potential sources that will be essential to support the work will be McMahon, W.W. (2009). Higher learning, greater good: The private and social benefits of higher education. Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press. Personally, I believe the source is doing a good job of supporting its arguments because of the research that was done by the author derived from a lifetime of scholarly exploration and peer reviews. Another source is Hansen, K. (2003). A College Education Is a Necessity in Today's World. In W. Dudley (Ed.), Teen Decisions. Education and College. San Diego: Greenhaven Press.

The key points of the argument acknowledge the role of higher education in career growth and development, will be supported by views presented from the sources given in question #5. They will show that for some higher education can be beneficial in some cases. In other cases others, can prosper in their career without a higher education degree. Each scenario will be different depending on an individual’s circumstance. The understanding that college may is not for everyone, but can a level of success can still be achieved.

Based on my essay, which presents an argument for higher education being necessary for a career as well as positioning a country to be competitive and responds to global threats, I will integrate evidence that would be most effective. The reason for incorporating my evidence on the key points will be the reality that key points provide the body for the main argument. This body is through explaining the supported arguments for the main argument. It will be necessary to prove my argument with information from scholars in the field. Further, key points often entail quoting statistics and other information that demands citation from reference sources written by experts and scholars.

The revision strategy is to make sure the writing adheres to the accepted standard of writing. I will do a revision when all the feedback from my peers and the instructor are given and make sense. Reading the essay out loud for myself and listening to the arrangement of the words to make sure they go alone with the point I am trying to convey. My learning style is verbal therefore; using this strategy will be effective for me while putting the finishing touches on the essay. This strategy allows me to correct unnecessary errors in the essay.

Feedback will be important for me during my revision process it will help improve and identify areas where my writing is lacking. The feedback will be integrated into my final paper by having corrected the previous errors. The feedback from outside individuals will benefit me because my identified errors will be identified without any prejudice. Because of this I will make the necessary corrections associated with the feedback. My writing can only improve from this feedback as it is integrated and will be used in future papers.
