FOR "NICOLE TUTOR" ONLY
Students will compose responses that address the discussion topics, and will include at least one scholarly* reference. References and in-text citations are to be done in correct APA 6th edition style - please be sure to follow the correct format! Students are required to post an initial discussion as well as to reply to at least one classmate. The word-count and other criteria is located in the discussion rubric.
Your prompt for this first discussion is as follows:
Now that you have read the articles & watched the videos in the module on Radical Social Work and Critical Theory, please respond to the following:
Please reflect on some of the viewpoints of Saul Alinsky, is there such a thing as too radical?
Explain, from your perspective, if and how radicalism is a useful social work approach.
Reflect on the reading related to critical theory and prevention, is it possible to use critical and radical theoretical frameworks to approach micropractice? How?
Please do not forget to include properly cited research in your initial response - initial responses are a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 750 words.
**Include one quote from a separate journal article on the topic or answers that fit with your questions*** note that a scholarly source is one that has been published in a journal or has been peer-reviewed; while at times, it is acceptable to use research from the internet, '.com' references should be avoided (.com stands for commerce - stick to .gov, .edu, .org). The course readings, while they may be scholarly, do not count. You must do research beyond the weekly expected reading - however, you can (and should) cite them along with other material.
