The topic of my research is the ‘current and emerging trends in the healthcare’ which primarily dealt with quality improvement program which are being implemented in the health care centers in order to increase their profitability. The quality improvement program is the most recent form of a current issue that the study dealt with in terms of accountability and quality affiliated services. We used the case study of the Community Health Group for our study and we incorporated the quality improvement methodologies to suit the needs of the stakeholders. The program had to be updated regularly after ascertainment of the weaknesses and the strengths of the organization. The study followed the process that Pareto’s principle advocates for: those 20% processes that bring us up to 80% impact and the challenging part are really to find the 20% and to begin addressing the challenges (Haughom, 2017).

The Rosenberg report (2016) came up with the following findings: that quality improvement program should be effective in the insulin pen safety and that it should be optimized. The problem lay with the storage process with contact isolation precautions. It recommended that medication administration should be barcoded, insulin pens should be scanned and designed for a particular group of patients and that the pens should not be shared amongst the patients. The mentors were also encouraged to take place in the program to help boost the morale of the service providers and the patients at large.

When doing the literature review, the report that I read was a report that has a close resemblance to this. It was a report done by the KPMG on the ‘current and emerging issues in the healthcare system in India,’ a report of 2010. As opposed to this project, the Indian report done by KPMG dwelt primarily on the growth aspect of change and came up with the following issues as the drivers of growth:

  1. The population increase which was estimated at 1.1 billion in 2010 and expected to grow to 1.4 billion by the year 2026.

  2. The demographic shifts from the then 60% population were young aged and were expected to change to around 168 million to geriatric population (WHO).

  3. The increased disposable incomes would also raise the quality and affordability of the healthcare services.

  4. The increase in the associated lifestyle related diseases would also serve as an issue in the years to come and increase the occurrence and the possibility of people going to hospital. These diseases include: cardiovascular disease, oncological and diabetes conditions.

  5. The rise in the rates of literacy which raises the awareness of the institutionalized care.

The report further dealt with the economic factors in the country like the benefits in taxes, the tourism in medical facilities being enjoyed and the insurance coverage.

The primary objectives of the studies are similar in context but the conduct of the studies fell under different categories as this project focused on the quality management practice while the KPMG report dwelt on the growth aspect of the industry. In general, our reports will have entirely different results and cannot be compared as the variables used are totally different and cannot be dependently compared and contrasted. This report isolated the growth and the economics part of the analysis but the KPMG report was based on the economic analysis in terms of the investments trends, the FDI and the financial analysis.
