MBA 665 Module Four Small Group Discussion Rubric Your active participation in the discussion forums is essential to your overall success this term. Discussion questions are d esigned to help you make meaningful connections between the course content and the larger concepts and goals of the course. These discussions offer you the oppor tunity to express your own thoughts, ask questions for clarification, and gain insight from your classm ates’ responses and instructor’s guidance. For this discussion, your instructor will divide the class into groups of four to five students. Read the assigned text chapt er, as well as the following articles: How Citizens United Changed Politics, in 7 Charts and Corporate Politics, Governance, and Value Before and After Citizens United . Pay particular attention to pp. 304 – 315 of the text. Then address the following questions within your small group discussion workspace . Post your personal ideas first and then as a group arrive at a consolidated opinion.  Should the First Amendment protect corporate political expression? Why or why not?  If not, where should you draw the line for corporations between freedom and restrictions?  If you were in charge of government relations at a business, what strategies would you now employ, in light of the Citizens U nited decision, to advance your position? Choose one person in the group to post the consolidated opinion to the sm all group discussion submission for your peers to review. In your individual response post to the larger group, state whether you support the position of the other peer groups regardi ng the Citizens United decision in the case. If so, why? If not, why not ? Be sure to provide detailed justification for your response and support in the way of scholarly research cited in APA style . Requirements for Discussion Board Assignments Students are required to post one (1) initial post and to follow up with other group members . See details below. For your initial post (1) in your small group workspace you must:  Compose a post of one to two paragraphs .  Complete the initial post by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. of your local time zone of the module week .  Consider material such as course content and other discussion boards from the current module and previous modules, when appropriate . For your response post in your small group workspace you must :  Respond to at least one of your group members outside of your own initial post thread; however, keep in mind that you must reach a consolidated opinion, so several posts may be required.  As a group, arrive at a consolidated opinion and after posting your group position in the small group discu ssion workspace , also post the consolidated opinion into the small group discussion submission by Friday at 11:59 p.m. of your local time zone . For your response posts in the small group submission you must:  Reply to at least one different group outside of your own .  Complete the two response posts by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. of your local time zone .  Demonstrate more depth and thought than simply stating “I agree” or “You are wrong.” Guidance is provided for you in each discussion prompt.
