An analysis of developed system (based on the proposal)

Introduction:

1.5 pages analysis paper (for presentation)

Based on the proposal, I just need finish 3 parts of the guidelines: l, m, n

(I added some things in some other parts of the guidelines, you can use it as resources.)

l. SWOT analysis of the developed system

(Same as the SWOT and Business Problem parts in the proposal, but need to expand them. Write more details and some examples for each point.)

m. Cost/Benefit Analysis or ROI analysis for the developed system

n. Discussion of how your system meets the objectives

Guideline:

The presentation should contain the following:

a. Executive Summary

b. Table of Contents

c. Introduction—what is the business and its broader industry structure? What is the business problem you will be addressing?

d. Overview of the organization’s business environment (SWOT analysis)

Our company holds something unique that almost all tracking methods companies do not possess, and that is our broadness. Our product can benefit industries from construction to schools. With just a little barcode sticker, almost anything could be recorded with just a scan of a smart phone. Our competitors, such as Tile, Tracker, and Duet are all too expensive starting from $25. Also, our competitor’s products are too bulky or big to attach to different material. Our product is easily more convenient because it is just a sticker! Our downside to the market is that our product only records when the material is being issued or returned. Our competitors do have us beat there because we do not actually have anything else on the sticker besides a barcode. That being said, our product puts liability and responsibility on the person who issued out the thing or material.

e. Need for Change—why is the organization considering implementing an IT/IS?

Our company decided to implement this new technology because we saw a constant problem with people losing important objects such as tools, books, computers, and even more. Our solution was simple, place a barcode sticker on each object and create an app that can log the object to be taken out and returned with just a quick snap from the smartphone camera. We also recognized the problem that employees tend to shift the blame to other people if an object is lost. With this easy method there is no shifting of blame, but in fact just puts liability on the person who took the object.

f. View of the organization as a “system” Sketch and description of the system you are going to model

Once again the system will be all be on a smartphone. The smartphone will have the inventory of the warehouse or wherever the objects are being held. It will recognize that an object is being taken from the held position and into a person’s control when the object is scanned.

g. Use cases and/or SIPOC analysis of the specific business processes that will be affected

h. Objectives of the system—What will your system do?

Our system will give companies the ability to keep track of their items if they were lost or stolen. If a company rents out their equipment to someone else, they will be able to track it and know what customer has it. This will give companies more awareness of their inventory and will be less susceptible to stolen or lost equipment.

i. Detailed description of how you intend to run the business using the new information system. In other words, suppose it were a video rental organization. You would explain how the system of video rentals, video replacement, inventory tracking, video usage, and other items would take place, including the technology that would be used, data that would be collected, intended use of the data, relevant outputs, etc.

j. Data and information analysis—what types of data will be available once the system you are proposing is in place? How will the business use this data?

Once the system is in place, the business will be able to keep track of their products wherever they are. Then there will be no excuses of losing anything or not knowing where anything is. Also, be able to tell who has the product, based on the location if possible.

k. Hardware and software recommended including costs

NFC stickers are generally pretty cheap. On EBay there are 50 stickers for $15. Could also get 1000 for $31.59 on www.uprinting.com. The organization, Square, already had a NFC sticker reader, so you wouldn’t have to pay anything for a new reader. However, they should develop an app to read and keep track of the NFC stickers.

l. SWOT analysis of the developed system

(Same as the SWOT and Business Problem parts in the proposal, but need to expand them. Write more details and some examples for each point.)

m. Cost/Benefit Analysis for the developed system

n. Discussion of how your system meets the objectives

o. Discussion of proposed future improvements that are either not appropriate at this time or are beyond
