I am a resident of LaGrange Ga, and I choose to do my research on the hospital in which I reside. I was born at West Georgia Medical Center in which now is called WellStar West Georgia. According to WellStar “WellStar Health System, the largest health system in Georgia, is known nationally for its innovative care models, focused on improving quality and access to healthcare. Staying ahead of the curve in technology has enabled WellStar to be leaders in both the diagnosis and treatment of an extensive array of health conditions. Serving a diverse population, WellStar consistently looks at total patient wellness and works to ensure that all systems support that focus. WellStar is recognized nationally as an Employer of Choice and is featured on FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For® list and Work Mother Magazine’s Best Companies list(wellstarcom,2017)”.

WellStar West Georgia has and Accountable Care Organization (ACOs) As Per WellStar.com “local health care providers and hospitals volunteer to work together to provide you with coordinated care. The doctors and other providers who are helping care for you will communicate with each other, and partner with you in making health care decisions. Your doctors use data from Medicare to help improve how they provide care. For example, your doctors will obtain your medical information from Medicare including your medical history, medical conditions, prescriptions, and visits to the doctor in order to give you the right care at the right time in the right setting”.

You’ll likely have fewer repeated medical tests because your doctors and hospitals will share information and coordinate your care. Your care providers will be paid partly based on providing improved care, improved coordination, and improved value—not just more tests and procedures.

We predict that the exceptional patients are cognizant patients – and we prefer to make sure that patients and their families understand their rights and responsibilities as they seek care within the WellStar Health System. At WellStar, we calculate that a successful evenhanded scan system benefits our patients, physicians and population, as abundantly as community as a whole. Wellstar Research Institute (WRI) is the centralized research facility serving WellStar Health System. WRI offers patients cutting edge therapies and contributes to the advancement of medical science. The Institute and its investigators push the boundaries of current medical knowledge to uncover new ways to fight disease and keep people healthy. WRI supports doctors and others who conduct the research, as well as patients who receive new drugs, devices and procedures through clinical trials. A clinical trial is a controlled research study that evaluates the safety and benefits of new medications or medical devices. WellStar physicians have been involved in clinical trials for many years. Some have led to important new ways to treat cancer, heart disease and other conditions. In 2010 all research activities within our system were brought together under the WellStar Research Institute. Some drugs and therapies being studied have not yet been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). But they have been approved for human trial and are believed to be better, more effective or result in fewer side effects than existing treatments.
