W hile similar to the trait approach in Chapter 2 and the behavioral approach in Chapter 4, there are differences with the psychodynamic approach. The trait approach emphasizes specific importan t characteristics necessary f or leadership. The behavioral approach suggests that the team management style is pref erred. The situational approach in Chapter 5 has an emphasis on linking style with the needs of the subordinates. The Psychodynamic approach emphasizes personality suggesting that a deeper understanding of human behavior is a f actor in leadership effectiveness. Personality is predictable, so an awareness of personality provides an additional leadership approach. In GM502, you took the Insights Profile, which is also based on Jungian psychology. Instead of acronyms (ESTP, ISTP, ESFP, or any of the other 13), which may be difficult to remember, Insights uses colors (blue, red, green, and yellow).
