Research the number of Apple iPhone 6 plus cellular phones that were released in the United States. Identify the cost of the Apple iPhone 6 plus.

Apple iPhone 6 plus offered 10 million handsets for the US market (Miser, 2015). The iPhone model was sold within a week for most of them had been preordered. IPhone 6 plus cost $299, $399, $499 for the 16 GB model, 64 GB model and 128 GB model respectively.

Discuss whether or not demand and supply are in equilibrium or is demand greater than supply.

The demand was greater than supply after the first week of being launched. According to Muir (2015), Apple had projected that iPhone plus devices demand was to be less than 10 million. The demand was high in that the 10 million devices in the market were bought within first week of hitting the stores exceeding the firm’s expectation.

Identify two factors that would cause the demand curve to shift to the left. Discuss two factors that would cause the demand curve to shift to the right.

Miser (2015) stated that decrease in price of Samsung galaxy 6 and increase in price of a complimentary item will cause the demand curve to shift to the right. Decrease in substitute price and increase in complimentary cases demand to decrease that shifts curve to the left. Income and preference increase cause demand curve to shift to the right. Improved tastes and income necessitates increase in demand that shifts the curve to the right.

Identify two factors that would cause the supply curve to shift to the left. Discuss two factors that would cause the supply curve to shift to the right.

Muir (2015) noted that low production cost and fall in input costs shifts the supply curve to the right. When the cost of production and inputs decreases it causes supply to increase with curve shifting to the left. High tax and obsolete technology shifts the supply curve to the right. Taxation and obsolete technology causes the production of Apple products to be shift to the right.

State whether or not a price floor or price ceiling in the iPhone 6 plus would benefit consumers and why.

Yes, a price ceiling would benefit consumers when it is below the equilibrium point (Miser, 2015). The price will cost lower than equilibrium price. No, a price floor will not benefit consumers when it is above the equilibrium point. The iPhone 6 plus will be more than equilibrium price.

Discuss if the Apple iPhone 6 plus account is a market failure.

No, the iPhone 6 plus is a market success. The demand for the product was high meaning it was unable to meet the expectation of the customers (Muir, 2015). The demand was high than the supply leading to stock outs. The stock out attests that iPhone 6 Plus was a success.
