The last half of the eighteen hundreds a lot of things happened, The Transcontinental Railroad was built and many immigrants especially the Chinese came to work on the railroad, when the railroad was complete many of these immigrants worked in different areas which upset many white people, this is when “1882 with the Chinese Exclusion Act, which banned the entrance of Chinese laborers” (Barnes & Bowles, 2015). Another thing that happened to during this time period is how the white people took the land from the native Americans “The last 3 decades of the 19th century witnessed a final push to remove Native Americans from desirable land, concentrate their existence onto increasingly smaller plots, and urge their assimilation into the dominant White culture” (Barnes & Bowles, 2015).

The changes that have happened have made America what it is today, we have become a diverse nation with many different cultures. At one point of time many different cultures would tend to cattle and there was no racism, every culture treated each other equally, maybe this was the start of teaching their children, it doesn’t matter where you come from treat them with respect. The negative thing again is racism, because white people thought that immigrants were taking their jobs they revolted against them. The worst thing that happened is taking the Native Americans land from them and killing many of them or trying to erase their culture and to have them act as white people, the assimilation. This still infuriates me.

Many people from China or Germany were asked and promised land if they came to America to expand the frontier. If the Immigrants had not of come to America we would not have such diversity. America is made up of immigrants, if they would not have come we would not know America as it is today.
