Scene Analysis

The scene we pick for the presentation is the dialogue from Lola and her boyfriend Manni . Then main idea in the scene I think is to introduce the information of the movie. In this scene, we have the following information.

first is the story or you can call it “crisis created”, receives a frantic phone call from her boyfriend, Manni . Manni is a small-time criminal who has just collected 100,000 marks cash in his most recent crime. Lola had agreed to meet Manni at the crime scene and to drive him to deliver the money to his boss, Ronnie. When Lola failed to arrive on time, Manni, carrying the cash in a bag, took a subway train. He fled and thoughtlessly left the bag of money on the subway because he does not have a subway ticket. Manni calls Lola from a phone booth. He complains that Lola let him down. He tells Lola that unless he raises 100,000 marks to give Ronnie within 20 minutes, Ronnie will kill him. Manni also tells Lola of his plan to rob a nearby supermarket—which for several obvious reasons is unwise. Lola implores Manni to wait and promises to find the money. Then move start.

The whole movie occurred in this life and death within 20 minutes, what happened within 20 minutes, whether Roll can find his father, his father will help her, she can rush to Manny in time? If the film only to the audience so some suspense, and finally one by one to give the answer, it is a tense suspense film, but the director is clearly not intended to use this.20 minutes to get 100,000 mark! Is simply impossible task! But Laura has no choice! The concept of time runs through the whole movie.

In my opinion, this scene is important is it’s use very limited time to introduce the reason Lola run and give audience the time line, 20 minutes. It’s also tell us she will go find her father first. This scene reminds us the story will happen in the next 20 minutes, the main point is the time. The good things in this scene is , we won’t be chaotic to see the fast change of the switching lens in the next part of the movie , cause we already know the story.

In the scene, a lot of fast switching lens, throughout the noisy rock and roll. It lets me think back at the beginning of the movie, there is a short cartoon when Lola run, a lot of expressionistic clock come out.

Narrator: Mankind, probably the most mysterious species on our planet. A mystery of open questions. Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? How do we know what we believe to know? Why do we believe anything at all? Innumerable questions looking for an answer, an answer which will raise the next question and the following answer will raise a following question and so on and so forth. But in the end, isn/’t it always the same question and always the same answer?
