Holiday Toy Drive

Kids will host a holiday toy drive. There will be a box in each classroom and we ask that each student donate one NEW toy that can be donated to the church for charity.

KEY CLUB- One toy drive per year

Student’s will have to keep track of age appropriate toys. Make sure they are new toys and not broken. Student’s will be responsible for taking toys to the Church as well.

They are giving toys during Christmas to children’s parents who may not be able to afford new toys. They are becoming aware of giving back to the community and what it takes to get every student to bring in a gift.

Tags to separate the age appropriate toys. 

Trash Pick-Up

Student’s will walk around in groups around the school and nearby facilities picking up trash and recycling.

Environmental Science class.

Student’s will discuss the potential hazardous materials the trash can cause. Will learn the benefits from recycling and the cons from not.

They are helping not only their schools, but the community. It also sets a good example for the rest of the students. Teaches responsibility and not to liter as well.

A garden project

Student’s will plant a garden in front of the school by the flag pole. They will plant a variety of flowers.

Environmental science class.

Children will take turns watering the garden. They will be responsible for the uptake of the plants and their grades will be based upon the nurture they can give. They will have to draw out how/where they will plant their seeds. Using perimeter because there is only so much space.

The students are helping the environment. They are learning how to take care of a plant. They will be able to have lunch out by their garden when they want.

Reading to the Elderly

Fields trip to the local nursing homes are common, therefore when the students are there, they will have the opportunity to read to the elderly people.

Reading –

Literacy skills and English Class requirement to reach certain amount of words in a minutes.

 

The students develop relationships with older people. Seniors love young children to come to read and talk to them so they are giving back to their community. Children forms relationships and learn about these people.
