Anzalone Liszt Grove Research conducted N= 600 live telephone interviews with registered voters in counties in California, Oregon, and Washington that intersect the Northwest Forest Plan Boundary . Interviews were conducted between July 5 -10, 2016 . Respondents were selected at random, with interviews apportioned geographically based on past voter turnout. Expected margin of sampling error statewide is 4.0 with a 95% confidence level. Further, the Northwest Forest Plan shows impressive existing branding region -wide, and among each state in the Pacific Northwest. Majorities support potential revisions to the Plan that increase protections for clean water and old -growth forests and limit clearcut logging and road -building, with many of the potential revision proposals showing support among 70 -80% of the electorate . When it comes to prioritizi ng public lands policy, voters in this region place a high importance on water, forests, wildlife, and recreation. Figure 1 – “Next, I am going to read you a few different priorities that leaders in your state are trying to balance as they create new ways of protecting federal lands and waters. For each, please tell me how important it is to you -- one of the most important priorities, very important, somewhat important, not too important, or not important at all. The Northwest Forest Plan is very popular among voters in this area. Provided very basic context about the Northwest Forest Plan*, nearly two -thirds of voters in this region have a “favorable” impression of the plan – with a roughly 5:1 favorable -to-unfavorable ratio (64% Favorable / 13% Unfavorable).
