According to a recent public opinion poll in Pacific Northwest states, a majority of voters have a favorable impression of the Northwest Forest Plan (NFP). In particular, 70 percent of those surveyed in Washington state view the NFP favorably, compared to 58 percent in Oregon (see Table 1). The Wilderness Society conducted this study in summer 2016, and they designed it to inform policy discussions about revisions to the NFP.

According to a recent public opinion poll in Pacific Northwest states, a strong majority of voters (66 percent) want to limit logging and road building in old-growth forests, and 84 percent want to improve trails and campgrounds to enhance recreation opportunities (see Chart 1). The Wilderness Society conducted this study in summer 2016, and they designed it to inform policy discussions about revisions to the NFP.
