Unit 9 Assignment Imagine that you are a working public health professional within a state health department. Your supervisor wants you to r esearch the pathophysiology of di seases either naturally occurring (or facilitated by) human beh aviors. In this work Assignment, you may choose a topic dealing with a particul ar emerging infectious disease, a disease caused by a toxicological agent, or a disease caused by health behavior. Your supervisor requires that your report must focus on the pathophysio logical , biological nature of t he disease. Furthermore, your s upervisor asks that you discuss the basis of public heal th laws, policies, or regul ations related to this disease. Your supervisor asks that you present your f indings in a professional report, with th e following sections: abstract, introduct ion, literature review, conclusions, and recommendations. A superior report contains scholarly depth, current APA format, proofreadi ng for spelli ng and grammatical errors, logical flow of ide as and a logical conclu sion, overall scholarly style and tone, and acade m ic references throughout. The report should include at least four prim ary sources (current, peer -reviewed journal articles found through the Kaplan Library) and at least eight total scholarly sources. In a ddition, discuss how your understanding of the disease serves as a basis for public health law s, policies, or regulations related to this disease. The body of the paper should be 8 –10 pages, double spaced, not counting the title page, table of contents (o ptional), abstract, and reference list. Papers must be posted to the Dropbox by the end of Unit 9. The viewpoint and purpose of this Assignment should be clearly established and sustained. Ass ignment should follow the conventions of Standard American Engli sh (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.). Your writing should be well ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful. Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics. This section also includes any background and general information that is u seful to understand the literature review that follows. For s ome topics, this may include historical context. 5) Literat ure Revi ew: This is the heart of the paper. T his section includes the analy sis of the current (within 5 yea rs) primary literat ure and should consist of presentat ion of hypothese s, study methods, results, and conclusi ons in the student’s own wo rds. Compare and contrast studies. Analyze them f or flaws and value. Consider studies with conflicting results and similar results and postulate reasons for this as well as conclu sions to be drawn. Organization of the literature review section may vary according to the topic, but this sec tion should demonstrate a cohesive connection between all of the primary a rticles being discussed. The use of transitional state m ents is strongly encouraged. 6) Conclusions and Recommendations: This section is designed to pull together all of the information, including reite rating the significan ce of the problem and presenting the overarching con clusions of the current research that was analy zed in the literature review. The paper must include a discussion of gaps and recommendations for further poli cies, legislation, int erventions, and/or research. 7) Reference List: All references that were cited in the text must appear here in APA format, single spaced with hanging indent. Full credit will not be gi ven should the reference list lack the minimum number of two primary research articles.
