The research question is: Does an environmental setting influence the development of drug addiction? As we all know substance and drug abuse has been a major problem in our families, communities and the country at large. Drug abuse has detrimental effects on the user. To solve this problem however we need to get to the roots of it. This research questions are key to getting to the bottom of the drug abuse Issue. We need to find out if the environmental setting that an individual thrives can influence introduction into drugs and the development of the same. We seek to find out how age and the environment can influence drug addiction. There are many reasons why people indulge in the use of drugs, at the adolescent level however someone my just want to fit in the social settings around them, and to fill cool and great.

However ethical issues come into perspective in this research just like other researches. Ethics is the norms of conduct. Ethics range from the personal conduct to the professional code to the expected conducts of a given profession. The possible ethical issues can come up at different levels of research. Bearing in mind that ethics can be a guide to research since it involves the use of research participants who are human. Failure to consider ethics can have an impact on the efficiency of the research.

The ethical considerations in this research include the following: Integrity, competence and respect for peoples’ dignity. When choosing the research participants, the process needs to be carried out with Integrity. There many ways that a researcher can select the research respondents. The sample is a representation of a population. Methods to select a sample fairly include random sampling and stratified sampling. In this research who then are the participants? We need to select people from different settings such as an urban setting and a rural setting; secondly we need to consider different age brackets common to this Issue say for example two groups the junior youth and the senior youth. We choose the youth brackets because this is the stage that most scenarios of drug abuse develops. The type of data collection ranges from interviews, questionnaires, observation etc. In data collection bias is bound to occur because the researcher is human, the respondents are human too. Bias could alter the outcome of the research. The respondents on the other hand have the discretion to come up with the answers as they so wish. Unethical Issues could spring up.

There are ethical issues that arise when choosing a research sample. According to the APA ethical standard concerning research issues, researchers just like psychologists, need to maintain a certain level of expertise in their endeavors. Researchers need to recognize the boundaries and limitations of their expertise. Competency includes making good use of the knowledge in research. Competency is required in studying an individual or groups of people. As the researcher, I will ensure that I use the accepted sampling methods to select a sample for study so that may research will be objective. The ethical consideration respect of people’s rights and dignity applies to research. I will ensure that I respect the respondents, and avoid biasness. I will also be concerned for participants’ welfare for instance if someone is not comfortable with some questions I will exempt. Bias is another ethical consideration. Based on APA one is to avoid bias and practice professional integrity. Integrity calls for honesty, fairness in dealing with others. For example, as a researcher I need to conduct my research in such a manner. The respondents should be aware of the study and should be willing to provide information and not to be coerced. Other APA considerations include: professional and scientific responsibility and social responsibility.
