Summary of Excellence and Collaborative Team Leader Questionnaire
The team excellence and collaborative team leader questionnaire is a designed diagnostic instrument to assists teams categorize the complicated challenges confronting them to identify the action needed to be taken. The questionnaire provided is divided into two parts which comprise questions about the team and the leadership of the team. With regard to the team, the first is concerned with the health of the team in terms of goals; commitment; external support and its structure, while the second part is concerned with the leaders’ ability in goal focusing, cultivating a collaborative environment, empowering the followers, prioritizing, and managing the performance of the team members, factors which are needed for team effectiveness (Northouse, 2010).
How you see yourself and your collaborative leadership traits
From the assessment, it was noted that my collaborative leadership traits were effective as far as team leadership is concerned. Specifically, the question on creating a collaborative climate within the team was given a score of 4. This would be attributed to the fact that I ensure there is an environment where the team members can comfortably share their ideas and solutions for complicated problems affecting the team. Similarly, the question on prioritizing team goals over individual objectives indicated that there was the spirit of shared interests among team members since it had a score of 4. The virtue of collaborative in team leadership is equally cultivated by effective communication from the leader especially when introducing changes or making decisions. In this case, the questions on making team members understand the reasons for changes in the goals; acknowledging the contribution of team members; and the leader not diluting the teams’ effort were all allocated a score of 4, indicating that the leader’s collaborative traits were effective for the team.
What the self-assessment indicates about you
The self-assessment on collaborative team leadership indicates that I have the ability to lead the team towards the achievement of a common goal. It is worth mentioning that the self-assessment team diagnostic tool indicated that I have the ability to create clear and elevating team goals, as indicated in the first question of the survey, goals which validate its existence. Additionally, the survey indicated that I have the desire of promoting team members’ personal growth by acknowledging their contributions and providing relevant information during decision making or when making changes in the teams’ objectives. However, it was indicated that the leader needs to mobilize more external resources and support to ensure that it functions effectively.
