Question 1

Bankruptcy is a federal system of statutes and courts which permits persons and businesses which are insolvent (debtors) or (in some cases) face potential insolvency, to place his/her/its financial affairs under the control of the bankruptcy court. The procedure is that when the debtor's debts exceed his/her/its assets or ability to pay, the debtor can file a petition with the bankruptcy court for voluntary bankruptcy. This will in essence wipe out the debts and financial obligations of a debtor.

In some cases, depending on the type of bankruptcy filed, the debtor also gets to keep certain properties and assets. Should bankruptcy be allowed? Why or why not?

Respond to this… I think that bankruptcy should be allowed but that there needs to be discretion. My father had to file bankruptcy and lost everything. He lost the house and all belonging. I dont necessary agree that people should be allowed to get rid of all their debt. Many people spend too much without being responsible on how they are spending it. I think that if someone has legit reason as to why they have so much debt. If people get medical bills that force them into debt should be allowed to file bankruptcy because it was something that was out of their control. I also have a cousin who is currently getting ready to file bankruptcy, I do not believe that they should be able to. They spend outside of their means all the time. They continue to buy things they dont need and eat out all the time, while bills continue to pile up. I made a lot of mistakes when I was younger and worked really hard to get back on my feet.

Question 2

Admissions offices of colleges and universities are interested in any information that can
help them determine which students will be successful at their institution.

For example, could students' high school grade point averages (GPA) be useful in predicting their first-year college GPAs? Data on high school GPA and first-year college GPA from a random sample of 32 college students attending a state university.

The results of the regression analysis are shown below.

  • Discuss conclusions that can be made using a significance level of 0.05.

  • Discuss factors that may determine the unexplained variation in the first year college GPAs.

Respond 9 1

Respond to this… I think that there are a lot of things that can go into GPA. I do not think that it is the best representation of college GPA, but it is a very good indicator of work ethic which could in turn effect GPA. Since r can also be the slope in some situations, it is assumed that r is 0.9323 which is very close to 1. That means that the outliers really do not effect the general population. The unexplained variation could have to do with a lot of things. It could be that the student got really sick in college and was unable to attend class, or something came up with family like a death, that would make it hard for the student to go back to class. Mental illness is also a huge influence on college freshman as well as partying and drinking.

Many people prefer bottled water and still other people prefer tap.

Respond to this… In my opinion, I always prefer bottled water because it tastes better and feels a little safer. I never taught that tap water were safe to drink because I never do any research about It until now.I was though that tap water is only for house use not to drink I also use the big refill gallon of water because it's cheaper than bottled water to me I think it's the same cause they have the same taste. I tried to taste the tap water before because of emergency but turns out I got sick

Zephyrhills water taste just like tap water they're both have too many minerals or sodium to me. My preference is smart water and purified waters, after my research in here I'm going to try to make a change about how I see tap water now. Since I don't like to recycle I will be stick to my giant gallon of water.

The better solution we can come up with is if everyone buys and install a filter next to their faucet just to be safe so that way we don't have to spend so much money on the same water we have at home, that will also help the environment with the pollution problem.
