Professor Becker Review – Marketing Analysis Review and Comments

Team B: Congratulations and thanks for submitting your market section draft of your business plan for review and comment. This is a good effort -your plan is shaping up, and I want to encourage you to incorporate these comments as well as continue to work collaboratively and cooperatively towards a great business plan submission in week 7-I like your venture very much. The plan is very pleasing to the eye and was relatively smooth to read from a flow and transition perspective. I have completed reviewing your marketing draft and am providing comments here for consideration for your final business plan submission. I am hopeful that you will consider these recommendations and hope the comments are helpful....The purpose of the marketing section in your business plan is to fully describe your product and/or service; customer set; market analysis; application of your SWOT & PEST; and applicability to your plan; you may want to consider linking your PEST from the industry review in the marketing section just a bit more-after all, you conducted these analyses, why not use them throughout the plan? (discuss the synergies with your SWOT for your potential investors and stakeholders as related to your product/service, target market-you briefly mentioned and attempted to do this in the beginning but a but more evaluative analysis might be beneficial, etc); evaluation of why customers would be interested; pricing strategies with attendant rationale and support; branding as well as a description of the type of elements that should be fed into the financial aspects of the business plan (and fed into any other applicable sections of the plan). It must be written using proper APA; properly titled tables and figures (yours are not); substantive sources to provide credibility and validity, and with all sources cited and listed in proper APA; always consider a summary of each section to highlight the key aspects that were meant to stand out for the reader. I don't see the primary research component here yet; when providied in whatever section of the plan, be sure you include the data collection instruent in the appendix along with the summary of results as well as leverage in the plan itself. Detailed comments as follows:

All applicable sections provided: All sections provided; I did not see the application of the primary research you provided; good draft here...; you may want to consider including some reference between the Introduced PEST & SWOT and how that now applies to your targeted market (this is how you thread it together);

Quality of Content: : This was a structurally good draft to review. It may have benefited from just a bit more evaluative analysis especially with the transition and flow (it was relatively smooth, but be sure you continually thread each of the sections together as you proceed)-remember to use a funnel type approach linking prior discussions (this is the threading effect I suggested on our class call); it provided most of the required content with some good rationale and support on how prices were derived and tangentially how the PEST/SWOT might be leveraged or mitigated; be sure to fully describe how you would fully leverage strengths and opportunities while mitigating threats and weaknesses as related to and expanded in your target market; there are many references to factual or assumptive data/information without any kind of citation to add credibility/validity to them-in fact, I read quite a few sections of this kind of data/information without one citation present; tables and figures are not appropriately titled and labeled;-please provide the proper labeling for either actual tables or figures (the title/label should be left justified at the top or bottom and then consistent throughout) and should be included in the TOC-you will need to properly number all of these for your final plan. Any/all numbered or bulleted items MUST be in a table or figure please.

APA, Writing: please provide evaluative analysis to any/all listed type of items (i.e. tables, figures should be explained to potential investors how they apply for this venture specifically); grammar and syntax as well as proper word use should be fully edited; when referring to research already conducted, use the past tense as it was already done; you might consider some additional sources, as just about all of yours are from non-peer reviewed or non-validated web sites; these were ok (getting better), but still a bit light-also, please be sure to properly list them in the reference list (just providing the web site is insufficient) and you must use hanging indents; and list your tables/figures properly;

Be sure to address any turnitin issues highlighted in your turnitin report (other than material for these iterative submissions).

Hope this helps but you are well on your way and should address these for the final business plan, Jerry
