Case 1: Javier Robledo Javier Robledo is a 32-year-old Latino male who was arrested on February 14 and charged with first-degree murder of his ex-girlfriend Olivia Esposito. According to Jose Gonzalez, (Ms. Esposito’s current boyfriend), Javier entered her residence illegally and upon seeing Olivia with Jose, became violent and stabbed her 35 times with a kitchen knife. Jose Gonzalez was able to flee the apartment and call police from a neighbor’s unit. Javier was arrested several hours later, at which time he denied all involvement in the offense. He stated that he broke off the relationship with Olivia months ago because she wasn’t good enough for him. He stated that she continued to call him and try to get back together, but he denied all advances. According to Javier, Olivia’s friend Jose was jealous because Olivia was still in love with him, and Jose was the one who killed her. Upon review of records, Mr. Robledo has a history of violent offenses, beginning as a juvenile. At the age of 13, he was diagnosed with Conduct Disorder due to repeated bullying of class members and the killing of several animals in the neighborhood. Previous girlfriends have described him as manipulative, secretive, violent, and possessive. At the age of 18, after failing out of an alternative high school, Mr. Robledo was court-ordered to attend counseling, at which time he was diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder. He discontinued counseling after one session because he believed the counselor was “an idiot.” Since that time, Mr. Robledo has held a variety of odd jobs, including sales clerk at a gas station, fast food restaurant employee, and bartender. He was fired from each job due to theft, harassment of employees, and various illegal behaviors. When asked about his job history, Mr. Robledo stated that he quit each job because the bosses and fellow employees were “morons.” At the time of the arrest, he was living in his mother’s basement and admitted to stealing money from her in order to buy food and cigarettes.
