Fiction Project – Describe the Setting

The young boy lives with his grandfather in a small ranch that borders a thicket on one side. The thicket is in a way forest like. The thicket is thick in such a way that it takes an individual so much time to transverse across the thicket. The trees that grow in are said to be rainforest trees. They are tall and at the top form a canopy that when one is on top of a cliff and views the top of the canopy, it looks like a green carpet. The canopy has also been seen not to allow sunlight to pass through to the base of the forest for the other plants. This has made the floor of the forest not to have much vegetation but with so many climbing plants. The climbing plants are seen to twist themselves in a way that they are all struggling to get some sunlight. This has made the forest to be a thicket as the climbing trees are seen to hang everywhere in the forest making it hard for people to transverse this is according to Haven, (2004) findings.

The thicket is also seen to be in the position to be a habitat of wild animals. Some wild animals are believed to be living in the forest, and so this has also made people not to interfere as they are afraid of being attacked by them if they invade the forests. The thicket has also been in a way said to be a threat in the sense that the wild animals will lack food and attack the people living around. This is a rare case of the animals in the thicket will only attack the humans living nearby when they have no enough to eat in the thicket. Since the thicket is in the position to provide enough for them, then they have no reason to migrate and attack the individuals living around.

The thicket has also been seen to be a home for the indigenous animals which have been said to be of value. According to McDonald, Down, Jean, & Ellis, (2000) this has also made the rise of poachers who are seen to be in the position to come and hunt for the animals thus destroying the natural habitat and endangering the species. The humans who transverse the forest is seen to be in the position of cutting off the climbers so that they can gain access to the forest this destroys the natural forest.

The surrounding community is also seen to be in the position to calmly live together in harmony. All the activities that are done by the community are for the benefit of individuals and at large for the community. The area around is cool, and so this makes the community for involving themselves in many economic activities highly. This setting is conducive as it is seen to be in the position to boost in the farming business activities. This is because of the availability of adequate rains.
