Critical Thinking and Decision Making

Bridget Peaco

4/3/2017

Critical thinking is one of the most powerful tools which is used in evaluation and objective analysis of a scenario so as to form a judgment. It utilizes intellectual concepts, skillful conceptualization, synthesis, application, assessment and evaluation of issues before making a decision. A good example from experience is when the business wanted to introduce a service used in the business operations. A critical decision was to be used so as to determine is a new service were to be used this is not clear, or the standard service used to be modified. I used to this concept to make a decision that a new service is to be used as the medication of the old service might bring more issues that will take more of the resources in the business this is not clear (Ennis, 2011).

The importance of critical thinking includes:

Decision making: critical thinking plays an important role when it comes to making an informed decision since the tool analyzes all the areas that are necessary before making decisions.

Higher achievement: the tool ensures the best achievement since there will be no mistakes on the decisions that are made in business. It also leads to best decisions that will bring more benefits to the business.

Communication: an essential element that brings success in business is the effective communication, and critical thinking enhances this element since it involves many parties before making any decisions (Garrison, 2012).

Problem-solving: it plays a role in problem-solving since it dissects the entire situation and thus giving a deeper understanding before making the decisions that will address the problem at hand.

In my decision on the service in the business, I enable me to communicate with most of the people, and thus we made the best decision which was the best and thus led to the higher achievements of the organization this is not clear. It is because of the benefits that critical thinking attaches to the decision making and gives most of the business a tool which ensures success in their operations. This concept enables me to understand more of the problem and thus opening up my mind such that I could see future projections.

Critical thinking is applicable in most of the environment, and an example is my current job where a decision on resource allocation is paramount, and this is the objective of the organization this is not clear. Critical thinking will allow me to involve most of the parties here in the organization, communicate effectively and this makes the best decision that will lead to the success of the entire organization this is not clear (Paul, 2014).
