Student includes an introductory paragraph with a clear thesis statement discussing the purpose of the paper.  Student provides a brief summary of the main points presented in the body of the paper.

Student summarizes the research article, to include an overview of the literature review, methods section, results section, discussion section and conclusion.

Student provides an analysis of the article identifying strengths and weakness in the research, elaborating on these points by discussing examples from the chosen article or other research.

Students reflect, and then discuss their personal, yet supported, opinions regarding the research.  This may include, but is not limited to: how the research could be used or not used within their chosen profession and why; speculation about other populations or samples and potential outcomes; how the research could have been carried out differently and what the potential results might be, etc.  Student uses “The Standards Check” and addresses applicable points in this discussion.
