Ezekiel J. Emanuel (2015, Sept 9). The Solution to Drug Prices. The New York Times, Retrieved from: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/09/opinion/the-solution-to-drug-prices.html This article in the New York Times addresses the high prices of prescription drugs in the United States. It summarizes some of the specialty drugs and their prices and the total expenditure on pharmaceuticals in the year 2014. The article further analyzes the government spending on Medicare and what would be the impact on those with private insurance cover if the government negotiated prices with drug companies. As part of the solution to drug prices the author compares the Australian and the Swiss models as an alternative way to go around the issue. This is a very helpful article as it provides solutions to the problems ailing the healthcare system.
