Management Class Case Analysis

SUCCESSFUL DISCUSSION BOARD STRATEGY (REVISED)

You can score a maximum of 6 points on each discussion board. Since there are a total of eight (8) discussion boards, that means a total of 48 points broken down into two sections – your own analysis of the questions (24 points) and your comments on the analyses of other students (24 points). Remember that your boss is interested in your analysis not merely your comment or observations.

Your analysis (3 points)

o 1-2 lines comment 1 point

o 1-2 paragraphs/comments 1.5 points

o 2 or 3 paragraphs/analysis with headings/formatting 2 points

o 4 or 5 paragraphs/analysis with headings/formatting 2.5 points

o Multiple paragraphs with formatting/headings and references 3 points

Comments on the analysis of other students (3 points)

o 1–2 lines 1 points

o 1-2 paragraphs 1.5 points

o 1-2 paragraphs with references 2 points

Example:

J Smith looked at discussion board #1 and came up with a listing of six or seven pressures confronting grocery stores. He/she adds a comment/explanation on each ... and comes up with two or three references from the internet. He/she also lists the same number of options open to the stores. This would give him/her 3 points. He/she then comments on two observations made by other students ... worth another 3 points. Total score: 6 points. Well done!!

Note: I appreciate that, in a rapidly moving course such as this one, it can often be difficult to find a submission (by another student) on which to comment. Just do your best!! A “total” score of 24 may rank you at the top of the class.
