Event 1: 1877-1944

Event: The industrial revolution

When it took place

The industrial revolution took place between 1745 and 1840, and African Americans were involved in the later stages of the industrial revolution. This was during the late 19th century

Where in the U.S:

The industrial revolution pushed African Americans to metropolitan areas and affected the farming areas.

Who was involved?

The liberated slaves were involved in the industrial revolution especially those who had not had an opportunity to get education.

What circumstances contributed to the event;

The clamor for independence by slaves led to slave owners seeking alternative production ways to reduce the cost of operations. Another factor was the increased population which demanded more goods which increased the demand of more efficient production methods. The invention of new machines which were to aid in agricultural industry and in other industries led to increase production and the shift to manufacturing industries.

How is this event historically significant?

African American culture became popular with other societies, and the African American populations became knowledgeable with the fight for the end of slavery and discrimination.

Event 2: 1915-1919

Name of Event: The First World War saw African American getting into the army and being positioned in different parts of the world.

When it took place: 1915-1919

Where in the U.S.A: In the United States army

Who was involved: African American Soldiers

What circumstances contributed to the event: In the process, the got to know of different practices and got to see independent Africans work hand in hand with white men unlike in the United States where they were discriminated even in terms of transport and the lavatories being used. They event took part within the United States army, and motivated African American to fight for equality.

How the event is significant: African Americans and former slaves started fighting for their rights leading to the civil rights movement

Event 3: 1945 to present

Name of Event: Police brutality aimed at African American society has claimed the lives of many young people in the recent past.

When it took place: in 2014-2016

Where in the United States: African American populated areas

What circumstances contributed to the event: African American has been killed by police officer all over the country. In 2015, more than 100 African Americans were shot by police with very few of them being charged with murder even though in some they were unarmed. This event is of historic significance as it mirrors who Africana American were being brutalized and harass by police officers during the civil movement in the 1960s.

Significance: has brought forth the prejudice that society still exercise when it comes to African

American population

Event 4: 1945 to the present

Name of the event: the civil rights movement

When it took place: in the 1960s

Where in the US: in South America and places where racial segregation was still practices;

Selma

Who was involved: The movement was led by martin Luther King Junior and Malcolm X who had different differences in how discrimination would be ended. Some of the white people who were sympathetic to the group joined in the movement although it experienced various lose with the walk of Selma being one of the largest losses that the movement had as they faced violence from the law enforcement agencies and the public who were against the movement.

Significance of the event: the civil rights movement led to African Americans being awarded their civil rights and liberties to carry out various activities.
