Community volunteering remains a great affair that one does without expecting any reward out of it but to benefit the community at large. In this case, I have had various volunteering experience most of which have yielded fruits. For instance, I was delighted to lead a very successful library building volunteer camp at Thailand. In this case, we organized as classmates to build a library for the poor people before graduation. The volunteering work was a great experience and needed much of our commitment and energy because the activity happened in the mountains where the people use electric power from generators. This paper explains my volunteering work and the three major reasons why I undertook the volunteering activity of building a library. The volunteer activity was crucial to me because it helped me unite with the people, benefit the community, and helped me learn many things around the world.

Participating in the volunteer work remains essential in uniting with friends in the community. In this case, while I was in Thailand, I interacted and worked with many individuals from various parts of the world and even the natives. I formed new friends and became a member of the bigger society focused in ensuring a better society for the less fortunate in the society. Volunteering not only takes one to a new level of cohesiveness with people but also helps the community to grow as one. In addition, other than boosting unity and cohesiveness, volunteering activity makes one learn sacrifices and the impact they have in the society.

Secondly, learning to benefit others is one major reason for volunteering work. In this case, during the volunteering mission, I learned a lot and benefits the society in a big margin. I learned from the volunteering activity at Thailand that volunteering helps others because our activity helped the less privileged children to have a library and giving them more chance to learn and hence a bright future for them. Children are the tomorrow’s generation. In this case, our voluntary activity made me learn that for the children to develop the community they must be empowered through various ways that mostly impact directly on their future.

Thirdly, traveling for the volunteer work was essential in helping me discover various things in the society and know the environment around the globe. Traveling to a small county made me understand various things around and that matter. For instance, this town has no electricity and people there use generators for power. Despite not having electricity, these people interact and live happily with one another sharing all that they have. In this case, I learned that all areas in the world are not the same and we have areas that need more attention and focus to make the successful society. This went deep into my heart that money and wealth do not buy happiness and it is only about our hearts and how we relate to others.

Conclusion, I feel so privileged for getting the chance to volunteer in building a library in such a small county in the mountain. I learned so much regarding community participation and gained experience in community development activities. In this case, building a library for the children of Thailand was a great initiative that gave them a chance to learn in a conducive environment for future developed society. I also felt privileged because I united with different individuals and made new friends in life, discovered many things around me, and benefitted the community in my volunteer activity. I feel that I have achieved a lot that makes me feel warm in my heart and I wish to get another chance to help build the society.
