It is irrefutable that we live in a society that depends heavily on data.  In the field of social work, much of our theory and practice evolves from data-driven, evidenced based experiences, research, practice.  Your assignment requires that you look into your own workplace or field placement agency and gain an understanding of the relevant data, its collection system, how it is tracked, managed and utilized and learn how supervisors use the data for case/client/customer management and performance management.

#3  Data Management and Supervision Assignment:    Due August 19, 2017

Look inside your own organization (or field).  Review the mission.  Gather relevant data from your workplace (field) that best represents the overall performance of your organization, specifically as it addresses and reflects the mission of the organization.  What variables, indicators, benchmarks does the agency use?  Do you use a logic model to report your outcomes?   What specific measurable data does your organization track?  In other words, what are your organizations' performance outcomes?  Develop a list of these tracked measurements within you own organization.  Analyze the measurements.  Are they representative of the organization’s mission and goals?  Are they effective?  How is the organization performing?

As a supervisor, one key function is to manage the performance of your staff and to connect the performance of your “unit”, department, or other designation, to the performance outcomes..  If you are a supervisor - how do you manage your staff’s performance?  How does your unit/department currently use the organization’s performance measurements in supervision and in employee performance /reviews?  (from the list above). 

If you are not a supervisor – how does your supervisor monitor your performance?  How is your unit/department performing within the desired measurements as listed above. What are your recommendations for improvement?  Within your organization?  Within your unit?

6-8 pages, double spaced, pages numbered, 12 font and APA format.  When complete place in the dropbox entitled “Data Management” by no later than 11: 59pm August 19, 2017.  The paper is worth 30 points or 30% of your final grade.
