Impact of Social Media Marketing on Saruk Electronics

Abstract

Social media are services that are provided through the internet that let you interact with others and share and create content through online communities. One of the marketing concepts that is widely used is the use of social media platforms ("Marketing in Small Businesses," 2016). This study addresses the gap between the customer and seller the by focusing on their social networking practices. Social media impacted on usage, perceived barriers, and the measurement of the effectiveness of social media as a marketing tool. With the economy in its current condition, it is imperative that entrepreneurs also understand how to use social media to increase advertising and improve marketing. This paper will discuss the advantages, SWOT Analysis, and drawbacks of using social media and will answer questions relevant to the use of social media.

Introduction

The internet became a global network since the introduction of World Wide Web in 1989. There is a wide variety of social media, ranging from social sharing sites such as YouTube and Flickr, social networks such as LinkedIn and Facebook and the latest being WhatsApp. Social media is a type of online media that expedites conversation as opposed to traditional media. It delivers content to the readers and viewers but doesn’t allow readers/viewers/listeners to participate in the creation or development of the content. This has challenged the traditional marketing model and therefore generating leads, increasing awareness, and ways of communicating (Stephen & Toubia, 2010). Saruk electronics is a retail shop that uses social media platforms in various means to advertise its products. Saruk uses Facebook as its primary platform to market and promotes its brands.

Advantages

As a consumer, there are advantages and disadvantages concerning social media. Social media has an impact on usage, perceive barriers, and measurement of how effectiveness of social media as a marketing tool. One advantage allows employees to share ideas, post new products, new services, and share links with customers who inquire about varies of discoveries. Another advantage is making social media a marketing tool that is effective to target a certain group of people (Howell, 2016). Last advantage is this will open a line of communication and expand our contacts.

Disadvantages

One disadvantage is fraud with hackers invading people privacy and viruses that travels through anyone computers. Second is online scams on social media can be a dangerous threat to anyone if not careful is identity theft. Another is loss of productivity because employees may not upgrade the system or updating customer profiles on line (Society for Human Resource Management, 2017). Last, drawbacks of the social media, takes time and effort to post items on the platform and therefore time intensive. It also lacks control of the feedback especially negative post responses, has damage marketing campaigns (Howell, 2016).

Promotion strategy

Facebook and Twitter are the social media platforms most commonly used for marketing. Other than the Facebook the enterprise also should use twitter as another platform to increase commercialization of the brands. WhatsApp being another next social media platform and therefore the business should use this platform to advertise and market the brand of the enterprise (Kaiser, W. S., & Green, J. E., 2000). The social media also allows the business to offer online shopping. But in this case, proper strategies should be made to ensure there no inconveniences caused during shopping. Therefore, customer feedback should be controlled to make the market mind is not corrupted. Negative comments and experiences can be address and adjusted, keeping customers happy, and showing potential clients that you care (De Vries, L., Gensler, S., & Leeflang, P. S., 2012).


Marketing

Social media play a crucial role in sales when social media is done correctly, it helps you increase sales, with effectiveness. Saruk enterprise uses the social media in advertising by posting the brands on the Facebook. Online shopping and Facebook allows the customers to respond to the brand of the enterprise, allowing employees to discuss ideas, post news, ask questions, and share links. This allows the brand of the enterprise to reach customers, expands market research implements marketing campaigns, delivers communications and directs interested people to specific websites. Therefore, social media being an effective tool of marketing makes customer feedback very imperative to this company (Stephen and Toubia, 2010).

Risk

Social media marketing carries several risks. You have no control over what people say. Sad news can go viral impacting negatively on the business. Non-compliance with record management regulations is also another risk of social media.

Recommendation.

Social media can be used effectively to boost business operation in many aspects. When the platform is managed effectively by identifying the weaknesses of social platform, maximum profit has attained. These weaknesses involving how to solve the negative feedback of the customers and more sales through online shopping.

SWOT Analysis

SARUK electronics is one of the upcoming electronic retail shop in the world. One of the best and reliable business opportunity is offering online shopping to customers. Social media offers the best platform to the retail shops and therefore can be used, not only as a marketing tool, but also in other areas of offering services. The SWOT Analysis for Saruk as follows:

Strengths

  • Unbelievable low prices

  • Warranted brands

  • Platform for buyers locally and online

  • Alternative delivery options

  • Best services in town

Weaknesses

  • Brands may influence harsh opinions of other competitors on social media

  • Market leadership groups may have issues with brands that are limited


Opportunities

  • Fast growing sales on new products

  • Market brand names into market shares and awareness

  • Electronic goods increased and collaborating economically

  • Growing demands of new services

Threats

  • High competitive industry of electronics brands

  • Price competition (in stores or online)

  • Government rules and regulations

  • Higher cost for materials

Conclusion

Social media has played a significant role in the business sector especially in the electronic shop. Does the use of social media marketing improve the enterprise operation or does it add service cost to the small business? Despite the advantages and disadvantages, there are also other risk factors accompanied with social media. Therefore, when it comes to social networking in the workplace, enormous benefits of social media marketing can be achieved.
