SECTION 1:

Character and ethics of an educator:

The six pillars of character are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. And I wish to serve Elementary level. Each of these pillars is indicated with a specific color. For example blue for trustworthiness, Gold for respect, Green for responsibility, Orange for fairness, red for caring and purple for citizenship. The features of these pillars are installed in the program of Character Counts. So that a positive and healthy environment can be offered to the students. At elementary level, these pillars are important in order to develop a protective environment for the children at schools by offering a heritage of kindness. These Six pillars of character can be incorporated at elementary level through different lesson plans. For example a six pillar poster lesson plan can be arranged. We can ask the students to think about positive behaviors and then write them on the board. Then they can be asked to group these behaviors under six pillars of character. In this way, they will understand and learn about these six pillars. Also these six pillars can be included in teaching in the form of books. Six different books in respective colors for each pillar can be printed and used for reading during classes.

SECTION 2:

DUE DATE Vs DO DATE:

It is necessary to teach the students about the variation that is present between due date and do date. “Due date vs Do date” principle states to wait till exactly before due date to start to “Do” the work. However, this principle does not produce effective results. Students get low scores in their courses because of this attitude.

As a teacher, I will teach my students to abide by the “Due date Vs Do date” principle. Here I will incorporate a pillar of character that is responsibility. I will teach them to divide their tasks according to availability of time. So that when they get time then they should accomplish their assignments through step by step method. Thus they will follow “responsibility” for accomplishing their tasks. This pillar says that the students you do their own work and should not assign their work to others. It will become easy for the students to complete their homework in steps and it will help them to raise their scores too.
