Scenario

As a palliative care nurse manager, you are presenting a telehealth mobile application to your team. The purpose of this technology is to enable timely and accurate assessment of your in-home patients who are presently under the care of the palliative team. A myriad chronic diseases must be monitored, including:

  • Congestive heart failure.

  • Diabetes with resulting Stages 2 and 3 non-healing ulcers.

  • Chronic obstructive lung disease.

Successful deployment of this new technology requires that your team be well-trained in its use. Consequently, you have decided develop training materials for a webinar, which can be used to deliver the training remotely using Web conferencing technologies.

Develop a webinar presentation for staff personnel to support the implementation and use of the new telehealth technology. Create 10–15 slides to support your presentation, including a title slide and a references slide.

Ensure that your presentation follows the palliative care program guidelines and standards developed by your organization.

  • Describe the purpose and use of the technology.

  • Explain the risks and benefits of the technology.

  • Identify the requirements for successful deployment of the technology, including appropriate training for patients and their families.

  • Discuss patient confidentiality and privacy safeguards associated with the technology.

  • Explain how the organization will assess the effectiveness of the technology.

  • Describe the type of ongoing training and technical support that will be available to the nursing staff.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, using synchronous or asynchronous Web conferencing technologies.

  • Integrate relevant and credible sources of evidence to support assertions, correctly formatting citations and references using APA style.

Develop a slide deck to support your training session.

  • Your slide deck should consist of 10–15 slides, including a title slide and a references slide.

  • Cite 3–5 sources of scholarly or professional evidence.

  • List your sources on the references slide at the end of your presentation.
