Individual and Essential Elements of Leadership and Management.

According to the assessment test, my strongest attributes are a creative builder and truth seeker. As a creative builder, I can detect new companies, new products; take new ideas and make them a reality. According to this attribute, I can comprehend that building is not always about invention. Instead, it is a process of making an invention a reality. Finally, I am always energized by new ideas and have the strength and ability to see them come to fruition. As a truth seeker, I am fair, a good judge, an equalizer; processes oriented, and uphold objectivity to the highest level. This trait allows me to play the role of helping the needy instinctively and help individuals to understand the policies and rules of the organization. Consequently, I act to preserve the integrity of the process by trying to understand the pivotal issues. Therefore, this qualifies me to be a successful person in the human resource department.

Differences between Leadership and Management Roles

Managers and leaders have very similar roles but the two differ in some aspects. First, the major difference between the two is that leaders have people to follow them while managers have individuals to work for them (Schroeder, 2010). However, to be a strong entrepreneur, one should be both a strong manager and leader in order to get his or her team to follow the vision and mission of the organization. Typically, leadership entails getting people to believe and comprehend one's vision and work towards achieving his or her goals whereas managing revolves around administering and ensuring that the daily activities are happening as scheduled. Secondly, it is apparent that people expect great leaders to have integrity and honesty as one of their traits. Leaders who exhibit these traits are said to be critical in an organization as they manage to gain the trust of the stakeholders thus making it easy for them to sell their ideas and move the organization forward in a faster manner as dictated by the mission and vision of the organization. Upon selling their ideas to the stakeholders, these leaders should have the ability to execute the vision. They can achieve this by taking a strategic vision and breaking it down into a pathway that the team should follow. To do this, they have to be effective managers as opposed to being effective leaders. Thirdly, once a project has taken effect, a leader is the one who should know where the organization is with regards to the project, where the organization should go, and enroll an appropriate team in a charting part of the future. However, a manager on the other hand will be responsible for directing the daily duties, anticipate needs, and review resources as a project commences.

Lastly, in a team, leaders are there as a source of encouragement and inspiration to workers. They give them morale and make them comprehend their role in the bigger picture. This motivates the workers since they feel important in the project and organization in general. Leaders also have a tendency of challenging employees to think outside the box and try to channel in their new ideas to help foster the organization or a particular project. A manager’s role in this approach is to establish work processes, rules, operating procedures, and standards. It is crucial to note that when guiding and motivating employees, one should ensure that they adhere to a specific set of rules and procedures (Schroeder, 2010). Failure to do this will render the company or a project to deviate from its intended purposes, which is very dangerous. Therefore, the entrepreneurs should always take a lot of caution when motivating their employees in order to hinder them from going off course. Good managers are also responsible for looking after their people, their needs, listening to them, and involving them. Part of managing people is looking after their needs since failure to do this leads to dissatisfaction, de-motivation, and other adverse effects that eventually end up adversely affecting an organization.

Typically, as seen from the discussion, an entrepreneur has to ensure that he leads and manages his or her employees well. Both these characters are essential since they complement each other for the general good of the organization. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to enroll their vision as well as align their behaviors and perceptions. They need to get the employees motivated and know what is in for them in case they succeed in attaining their vision. In most organizations, they employ both managers and leaders since people have different skills as well as personalities. However, for small organizations, this becomes a challenge as they find it hard to afford to employ leaders and managers at the same time. However, those who have the ability to find individuals who are born leaders and managers enjoy the competitive advantage (Schroeder, 2010).
