Post Your Introduction

Prepare:What if you only had 12 facts about yourself to give to someone to write a story about you? For your introductions in this course, you will only be providing factual information to your peers so that they can write a profile story on you! The information that you include will be very basic and it will be up to two of your peers to write a compelling profile story from the information that you provide them with.

Reflect:What best describes you? What do you want others to know about you after reading a profile story written by someone else? How do you convey factual information that can be used to create a compelling profile story?

Write: In the discussion area, include the following information for your peers to use to write a profile story about you. Only use keywords to fill in the information. Below is an example of what your post will look like.

  1. Name: Teresa Taylor Moore

  2. Place of Birth: Jackson, MS

  3. Siblings: 2 sisters, 3 brothers, youngest child

  4. Current State/City of Residence: Richland, MS

  5. Ashford Status: Started teaching in June 2013

  6. Current Career: Chair of Journalism and Mass Communication

  7. Aspiring Career: Currently in the career of my dreams!

  8. Family Life: Married

  9. Favorite Hobbies: Cooking, Baking, Working out, Traveling, Creative house projects

  10. Favorite Color: all shades of orange and red

  11. Personal Quote/Philosophy: “Many people have had great ideas that have changed the world, many others have had great ideas that remain on that—ideas. It is only those ideas that are effectively communicated that become a reality” ~Dr. Taylor Moore

  12. One Other Fact:

Respond to Peers: After reviewing the facts about your peers, choose two of them on which to write a profile story. You will have to be creative in filling in the gaps but careful not to take the information out of context. For example, do a Google search on the city they were born and locate an interesting fact. Search for information about their favorite hobby and include something about it in the story. You must create a headline that includes their name and a byline with your name to make it look like an actual story. Review the Formatting Stories and Blogs resource document. You must also adhere to AP style in writing your story. Your profile stories must be at least 150 words in length and are due by Day 6.
