ECO 510 Milestone One Guidelines and Rubric For this milestone, develop your Survey of Current Literature and Research Questions (Sections I and II in the Final Project Gu idelines and Rubric document). A survey of current literature is the starting point of every empirical economic research paper. Knowing what other researchers have investigated on a topic will hel p you start your research from the shoulders of giants ins tead of the ground. Your survey of current literature will provide foundational knowledge for you to establish your research questions, the appropriate data sets , and qualitative information . In the second part of this milestone, you will develop resea rch questions for your empirical analysis. Your research questions will help you focus on how you can identify and use statistical tests to analyze and solve an economic problem, in this case health. Your research questions sho uld be feasible, that is, you could find data to answer the questions within the time frame of this course. The questions should address a current health crisis in ou r nation and how demographics and economic issues are related to it. Specifically , the following critical elements mus t be addressed: I. Survey of Current Literature: Find research literature that interests you regarding the topics of demographics, economic indicators , and health , and provide a brief narrative of each source that you c ould use as a stepping stone for your own research. You will need to provide a list of the resources used in APA formatting. Ensure that you respond to the following in your narratives: A. Identify what the research questions were and how the research is related to the topics of demographics, economics, and health. B. Describe what type(s) of data was used and the sources of the data that was used. C. Describe what mathematical objects and what types of statistical analysis were use d. D. Explain how the research is connected/related to your research. Provide specific examples to support your response. II. Research Questions: In this section, you will develop your research questions to help in identifying and using statistical tests to ana lyze and solve an economic problem. A. Provide at least two feasible research questions for your research paper. B. Defend the choice of your research questions, specifically, why these would be good research questions for an empirical economic research paper .
