The process I want to improve is to reduce obesity in Indiana. The representative from the Indiana Health Department states that the most critical issues that are happening in the community is to reduce the prevalence of obesity in Indiana. The most vital problem the Health Department is addressing how to increase the number of individuals with a healthy weight. The definition of overweight and obesity is the amount of weight that is larger than the healthy weight for the height of an individual. Body Mass Index is used to measure if an individual is overweight or obesity (CDC, 2017).

HIV is rising in Indiana due to the rising usage of heroin and using dirty needles that are shared among drug users. The smaller counties in southern Indiana had an increasing number of HIV outbreaks that the CDC had to take over the intervention and treatment along with the Indiana State Health Department. The Governor of Indiana declared a state of emergency in 2015 because this has been the worst outbreak in history. The first diagnosis of HIV was in December, a month later five more individuals were diagnosed, by the third month the number had risen to 26 and by March 79 individuals were diagnosed with the HIV. All the outbreaks were in counties in southern Indiana. The county usually has less than five cases of HIV outbreaks in a year (Goldschmidt, 2015).

Addressing the HIV outbreak in Indiana, we need to focus on safe sex, needle disposal, clean needles, drug treatment and HIV testing. The community will be able to give out fresh needles at any time to individuals needing a needle and have free HIV testing in all counties throughout Indiana. The city will organize a team to run a campaign to prevent and educate individuals about HIV. For this plan to work, health clinics, doctors, nurses, counselors, and volunteers would have to help. Health clinics will be able to give free testing of HIV, also be able to educate individuals on HIV, pass out clean needles and condoms. Doctors and nurses are needed so that when a person is a diagnosis with a positive test that they can get the proper medication, test, and care required to survive with HIV. Counselors will be on staff to help individuals with HIV and family members deal with the shock of the person with HIV. Volunteers will be able to go in the community and pass out pamphlets on HIV and give out clean needles. The flow chart below explains the process of the campaign to prevent HIV (ETU, 2017).

This article explained about the HIV epidemic in Indiana and very popular in the southern counties in Indiana. HIV is on the rise because of the sharing of needles and increase of heroin use.
