History Part 1 & Part 2

There are so many causes of civil war and so many negative things on slavery with respect to economic, politics and performance of the American states. This was a really challenging time to get free from Europeans and start a new state but this was not as easy, the challenge of slavery was one of the biggest challenges US was facing. Some researchers argue that capitalistic economy of America gained from free slavery. However various events of history gave the voice to slaves as well such as Missouri compromise and Kansan Nebraska act. All states did not react equal to slavery and there were extreme opinion differences present in north and south ideologies however the raid on federal ministry was also the time when American government realized that it’s high time to end slavery. This report below discussed outcomes of various laws related to slavery in one way or another, misalignment of slavery with a political and economic system of America and lastly causes or factors of civil war.

Thesis statement: Liberty challenge in America was not an easy way to go.

  1. Describe two (2) outcomes of the 3/5ths Compromise, Missouri Compromise of 1820, Compromise of 1850, Kansas-Nebraska Act, and the Dred Scott Decision. Note: Be sure to provide two (2) outcomes for each legislation.

This act was about slaves that slaves are 3/5 of persons so they were ready to get some rights. This caused them to boost their population is population boost of slaves was the first effect of it however the second outcome was increase number of votes for elected president and more rights of slaves in congress (Knowles, 2007).

Missouri compromise of 1820c: This act is considered as the main cause of civil war, in this the north was freed on slavery and strict lines were drawn for slaves. This was done not in order to protect slaves but to make sure that no official slave state must be there because if there is a labeled slave state then America will be labeled as states of slaves rather than states of free man.

The impact of Missouri compromise was not very good on national government. This was the reason of contradiction between various states.

Compromise of 1850: This was a series of comprises between south and north. Few changes were also made in constitution in law of this compromise act. Fugitive slave act was changed by slave trade in Washington.

Kansas Nebraska Act: This act was passed in 1854, this act gave right to its people to decide that if slavery reveals in their regions or not. Kansan act leads in failure of Missouri compromise. The union also falls apart in this act. This was a long standing effect due to failure in Missouri compromise as well. This has also impacted on political decisions of the region as much pro slavery and anti-slavery people moved to Kansas to make sure that the results of the first election held after this law will be historical in time of Kansas.

Dred Scott Decision: The outcome of Dred scot decision was not positive to eliminate slavery but the court took decision that Scott is still a slave and he has no right to file a case in US court. The rights and freedom were not given to him. The newspapers of that time did not speak against slavery but they were also happy with the decision. Many newspapers such as the enquirer greeted the decision with great applause. This case was also cause of civil war.

  1. Suggest three (3) reasons why slavery was and is incompatible with our political and economic system.

There is a great linkage between Capitalism and slavery, this is considered that American greedy business owners used people for their own interest, this is a harsh fact of capitalism that is suppresses some of the workers. Slaves were used as those suppressed workers by capitalism. However some also claim that rate of laves was lesser in America before civil war. So how greedy capitalistic society can flexible its slaves number before civil war (Rabayaha, 2018).

The economic impact of slavery was also positive in south. Labor shortages were the reasons which caused the slaves to move in south, the south economic condition was much better; this has also caused business owners to free the slaves when labor force started increasing in the south. Thus slavery was not as such incompatible with the economic system of America. But this is true that slavery hindered the development of southern part of America. His economies which used slavery are disadvantageous most of the times. Slavery effect different economies differently however in American southern part it was seen as negative thing for economy. Slavery was also considered as substitute of capital due to which southern part is less develop in technology as compare to northern part.

  1. List three to five (3-5) driving forces that led to the Civil War.

There are various reasons that lead to civil war, slavery and its future was one of the major reasons however Missouri compromise was always there it created difference between one state with the other states, so does Kansan act did  (Morgan, 2001).

  1. Abolitionism movement was always there contributing to it. This movement took place not only in America but in Europe as well. David walker, Henry highland garnet and Harriet Tubman were major names of in this civil war time period.

  2. The raid of Harper ferry was another important factor that leads to civil war. This raid was actually against the federal armory. This raid was an effort to end the slavery and whole institution of slavery. This was so intense raid of fight that people were killed in this too.

  3. States right was also a very new idea that leads to civil war, many states were bleeding, and many states were good towards rights of slaves like north whereas south was not in favor of slave’s freedom, the difference of states lead to civil war. However, industry vs. farming was another debate which leads to civil war. Some states were preferring capitals over slaves.
