Land SurveyHello everybody, check task2 in attached file if you can solve. Thanks

F/QAP/021/004

Student Number: 131036

Aim

To understand the basics of contouring and preparation of contour map

Learning Outcomes

  • Determination of contour line values based on spot levels at grid points

  • Identification of contour lines on the grid by approximate method

  • Drawing the contour map to the scale

Task 2: Context Based Problem

In the context-based problem students must solve a contour map problem. The context-based problem has 10% of the 30 Mark of the coursework.

Q1 - In a grid with 300 m width and 300 m length, with grid labels A, B, C and D on X-direction and 1, 2, 3 and 4 on Y-direction, the elevation of the points are according to Table 1.

Table 1: Elevation of the grid points in meter

Grid

120.5 + m

135.2 + m

155.8 + m

167.5 + m

145.8 + m

160.5 + m

181.1 + m

192.8 + m

167.3 + m

182 + m

202.6 + m

214.3 + m

175 + m

189.7 + m

210.3 + m

222 + m

m = 10*Ln(1 + X + Y+ last 3 digits of student number)

X is X-coordinate for each grid point (0 – 300 m)

Y is Y-coordinate for each grid point (0 - 300 m)

  1. Prepare the table for grid points elevation according to your student number

  2. Draw the Grid with elevation of the points with a suitable scale

  3. Prepare the contour map for the grid with two contour lines of consecutive elevations (Use approximate method – with a suitable scale)
