Module 02 Course Project - Type Design: Creating a Headline for a Meme
Overview:
In this assignment you will be creating a meme that contains an image along with headline text. Through the completion of this assignment, you will practice choosing and placing appropriate typeface/fonts as well as exploring images whose copyright permissions allow them to be used in the creation of derivative works.
Be careful not to create a message which might be considered offensive. Don’t worry if it isn’t funny; this is about the type, not the quality of your comedy.
Instructions:
1. Go to the Wikimedia Commons website: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
2. In the "Search Wikimedia Commons" box, type "portraits at bust length"
3. Look through the resulting images for one you find interesting. Make sure in the Creative Commons information that the following permissions are granted.
4. Copy the image to your desktop. In the text portion of the dropbox, place the attribution from the Wikicommons site.
5. Create a new Word document. Select the design tab.
6. Go to the right of the ribbon and select page color.
7. Select black as your page color.
8. Select centered alignment.
9. Select the insert tab and click on pictures.
10. Select the image you chose and saved to your desktop.
11. Go to the home tab and change the type color to white.
12. Select your type style and type your message under the image. Keep the type size 24 pts or above.

Select a second type style (e.g., if you used serif first, type it again in a sans serif)
Select a third type style (different than the others selected above).
If your message fills up the area under the image, just keep typing and the document will create a second page with the messages there.
