First Resource:

“Volunteering in America” Corporation for National and Community Service. 2019. Retrieved from : https://www.nationalservice.gov/serve/via

This webpage provides statistics on volunteering activities, volunteer rate of different states and volunteer organizations by category. It is beneficial to my essay, because I’m trying to state that the participation is not good enough in the U.S. This source is an evidence to support my claim, because it provides real data and number, for example only 77.4 million Americans volunteered in 2018, which is about 25%.

Second Resource:

Busch, Akiko. “The Unexpected Benefits of Volunteering in Nature” Forbes. 16, May 2013. Retrieved from: https://www.forbes.com/sites/nextavenue/2013/05/16/the-unexpected-benefits-of-volunteering-in-nature/#536dc68f4e74

This article talks about how volunteering helps the nature. The example used is having volunteers to look for signs of the herring, it’s much easier to gather information with more people. It’s beneficial to my essay because it’s an evidence that volunteering activities are helping research and environment. The article also says that financial difficulties cause volunteer participation to become more important.

Third Resource:

Howell, Kevin. “How volunteers impact communities” EPICS IN IEEE. 9, December 2016. Retrieved from: https://epics.ieee.org/volunteers-impact-communities/

This article provides a few examples on how volunteering activities can give back to the community. It’s beneficial to my paper, because I want to write about how volunteers can impact the society. The most significant advantage is always the free labor, and how it helps nonprofit organizations.

Fourth Resource:

Lane, Susan. “What is the essence of life? To serve others and do good. ~Aristotle” Linkedin. 10, December 2018. Retrieved from: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/what-essence-life-serve-others-do-good-aristotle-susan-l-lane

This article talks about personal experience on how serving the community and helping others is beneficial to the individual volunteer. It helps my article because I want to talk about spending a little time everyday and being less selfish can actually gain you more.
