Management Strategy Analysis

Different firms employ different strategies in their management. It is through these strategies that various issues arose. The issues that the organizations experience mostly arose from the policies that the organization employ which at times are opposed by the workers and the shareholders of the firm. The analysis is done in an organization to assess if the set objectives and goal are attained or not and to come up with new managerial strategies that can be used to correct or bring change in the organization. Research conducted based on the newspaper that was produced and sold in Southern Finland (Vallin et al, 2014). Assessing the situation in Southern Finland, therefore, demands the use of various situational assessment tool techniques. The essential techniques that are used in this case are the PESTLE, SWOT, and scenario analysis.

Business Management Consult Strategy

Portfolio summary. Include every item (chapter write-ups, interviews and consult). Organize your portfolio in a professional manner and include a table of contents. Save an electronic copy of your 1

The diagram above elaborate how the organization works. It has a mechanism of how the workers are acquired, trained motivate empowered and made useful for the realization of the goals of the company. In the paper I will be focusing on how a newspaper company operates and does its objectives. Based on my company of choice these are the objectives that the newspaper company must meet.

  • Facilitate the development and distribution of high quality newspaper to relay information that is current and credible

  • To enhance company roles that are essential to local and regional institution providers.

  • Provide high quality education to everyone to improve learning outcomes.

  • Facilitate the development of content provided for the delivered across multiple platforms.

  • Support innovation by providing more platforms for workers to develop themselves

  • Support public media efforts by developing strategies that changes people in the media.

In order for the company to ensure that these objectives are met and ensured, it carry out monthly evaluation on the progress (David et al., 2017). It does this by carrying out interviews on the customers who read their papers. The interview are done on a one on one basis or through questionnaires.

SWOT Analysis

In the journalism industry, the journalists can assess and analyze the situation of their markets through different techniques. One of the great technique that they would use is the SWOT Analysis. SWOT means strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats (Bull et al., 2016). In southern Finland, the journalists’ main strength is the readily available market.

Strength

Some people rely so much on the news that is presented by the media in the newspapers and therefore always purposes to buy the papers on a daily basis (Bull et al., 2016). It is, therefore, a good pointer for the journalist to present the news or the information accurately to make most people be attracted to reading the papers for firsthand information. Again, the market is not that much flooded that there is a stiff competition that would make the papers that they are producing not to be sold. Their main strength is that the nation is inhabited by learned people who can read. They thus have a massive room for improvement which if they utilize through advertising and provision of accurate information, they will automatically gain a fantastic outreach.

Weakness

The main weakness in the Finland case is the rigidity experienced in the country. The desire to have a favorable working condition and culture in the journalism organization is facing a hard time in Finland and the journalism fraternity as a whole because of the kind of news that s presented in the papers. It is reported that some of the news that is printed in the papers is never accurate and therefore cannot be relied upon. Another weakness of the organization that makes the business not to thrive is the readily available data online (Bull et al., 2016). The information that is presented in the newspapers and other media are readily availed through the use of technology. It thus makes it cheaper and economical. Revolutionizing the whole process might make the industry to have a positive working condition and culture.

Opportunity.

News and current issues are inevitable information that people always aim to attain by all means. Workers can also work diligently in ensuring that the goals set in the organization are attained. The opportunity that the management has is to motivate the journalists by providing the best working condition and atmosphere for them to produce their best. It will make them to be innovative and determined in ensuring that the goals of the company are met.

Threats

The constant changes in the world of technology make it even harder to handle the challenges of creating a positive organizational culture. Some of the challenges faced in journalism include the threat of internet censorship and the rise in authoritarian governments. This puts meaningful communication and interactions from the press under siege compromises the ability of the media to cover news (Davis et al., 2017). This further calls for more keenness and motivation of the workers to be innovative in devising the best way to handle the challenges that are being encountered.

PESTLE Analysis

The SWOT analysis was used in this case to help in identifying the strengths and weaknesses that organization culture strategy would bring in the realms of media. However, in assessing the environment and the condition that the business has to carry out, PESTLE is used as an analysis tool. PESTLE stands for the political, economic, social, technological, environment (Rastogi & Trivedi, 2016).

Political

Politically, it can be said that the political environment is stable and that is why there is a freedom of the media. According to Harisalo et al., (2014), the PESTLE Analysis determines when and how the government intervenes in the media coverage issues of the country. The policies and restrictions stipulated by the government influence a great deal the functioning of the government. It is for this reason that the media can express itself freely. Politically, therefore, the creation of a positive organizational culture is favored and successfully be done with much ease.

Economic

Economic status of the country is favorable for newspaper vending and journalism. According to Schwartz et al., (2018), national stability and the circulation of money plays an important role in boosting the establishment of the media in a country. The nation is economically stable, and money circulation is very high. It is for this reason that the coming up with new ideas that can help in the establishment of the organizational culture that is nurtured and can succeed. More funds will, however, be needed to come up with the right strategies that can make the strategy a success and fruitful.

Social

The business has been in existence since the invention of reading and writing, and therefore the social relationship created is quite good. Rastogi and Trivedi, (2016), asserted that introducing the positive culture in the organization would require the management only to change the perception of the workers concerning their beliefs and take concerning the market and quality of the products that they will be releasing in the market. The social factor will also help in making the workers know the consumers’ taste and preference and to prioritize it.

Technological

The market has in the recent past be subjected to increased incidences of technological advancements. It is reported that through these advancements, the markets have been affected to the point that the sales are not profitable since people readily attain the news or information online making them not to rely on the newspapers (Rastogi & Trivedi, 2016). To make the business profitable, the management needs to come up with a good strategy that can help them give tangible and original information that cannot be obtained on other platforms.

Legal/ Legality.

Business enterprises always get permission from the government before initiating a business venture. If they are therefore permitted by the government, it implies that they are operating within the laws and all that they are doing are legal (Rastogi & Trivedi, 2016). In Finland, journalists are given the freedom of expression and permits by the government to collect and disseminated the information to the people without being intimidated. If permits are given to organizations, they are expected to provide the working environment to the workers as per the regulations gave by the government. It is therefore believed that the media in southern Finland did.

Environment

The environment that the company operates within should favor its growth. If there is stiff competition, the board of management has to come up with a strategy of making its products better and more preferred that the competitors’ products. It thus needs much analysis in the environment before venturing in that market. Being that the markets in Finland are mixed up (with people with different perception), making the products acceptable would need much advertising and employing some marketing strategies like discounts and improving quality would be needed.

Scenario Planning

This is the other technique that proves vital and can be used for analysis is the scenario planning. In this strategy, of analysis, the managers or business owners assess the business opportunity that exists then decides on the course to take to make the business thrive (Chang & Taylor, 2016). In most cases in this strategy, plausible views that are vital for business success is the main focus. The decision to venture into a particular business market is thus only done after careful evaluation of all the decision choices that have been presented.

Conclusion and Recommendation

All, in a nutshell, it would be prudent to state that the only way to salvage a particular situation is through identification of the best analysis strategies, then to evaluate the finding and making the right decision that can bring a difference. In the Newspaper case in Southern Finland, the only way out to handling the menace is embracing technology and creating a positive working culture for everyone to produce their best with much ease.

The chapter describes strategic management as a method to exploit new and different opportunities for tomorrow's market. However, it has been cast out by corporates. This is done to a firm to significantly identify its opportunities and weaknesses as strategic formulation. In the process, resources allocation is carried to manipulate the effective performance of the business. Strategic management focuses on solving problems encountered by the organizations in the global market. Chapter 2 & 3. Analysis of External Business Environment

The analysis of the external environment is carried out by identifying the threats a company may face such as the substitute for the bargaining power of suppliers and buyers, and the opportunities. Factors such as competitive position, dynamics, and history are analyzed (Litman 2018). On a macro scale, it includes global political, social, demographic, and technological analysis. The primary purpose of external is to determine the opportunity and threats in an industry or any segment that will drive profitability, growth, and volatility.

Chapter 4. Cost Advantage Strategy

The choices of price setting are upon the managers to decide. Some managers opt to cut the cost to minimize and pass their savings on to customers in lower prices (Noe et al. 2017). This helps them grab market share and ensure their products as competitive as possible. While on the other hand, those offering higher costs in their product focus on giving the best services with a lot of luxury droving cost high. These services are generic strategies because they can be applied to products and services in all industries, and organizations of all sizes (Noe et al. 2017). Vertical integration and outsourcing are some of the viable approaches for advancing the competitive edge (Loertscher & Riordan 2019). Vertical integration expands the presence and influences the business while outsourcing involves contracting some of the business operations to external service providers. Their suitability depends on the nature of activity and industry of specialization.

Chapter 9 & 11. Competitive Strategy

A firm that operated in the global market sacrifices responsiveness to local requirements within each of its markets in favor of emphasizing efficiency. It is the process that turns strategies and plans into actions in order to accomplish strategic objectives and goals. This moves the plan from a document that sits on the shelf to action that drives business growth.
