1. Directions: BEFORE taking a right- vs. left-brain test (any you wish; just find one on the Internet), read & follow these directions. It is important to save the page(s) which shows your profile (percent right- vs. left-brain dominance). Do not go to another screen without saving it, or you may have to take the test again. You may get differing questions. As a result, your scores may differ slightly. One way to save it is use your “snipping tool.” It will produce a picture, which can be clipped into Word.

  1. Given your profile (right-brain dominant, left-brain dominant, or approximate equivalence of hemis-pheres), describe 3 techniques that a firm may use to appeal to people like you in an ad. Include your own (not mine from lectures!) examples.


Example: I am about equivalent between hemispheres. As such, a firm might want to tie right-brain & left-brain processing together. Techniques include:


A. Tie pictorial stimuli to a verbal analysis, wherein brand name, attributes, and product concept are tied together (e.g., Arrow Pest Control Company).

B. Tie concrete verbal stimuli to a verbal analysis (e.g., Fuzzy Wuzzy Rug Co.).


  1. Tie illustrations to verbal presentations of the same info.;  redundancy (multiple storage   misinterpretations (e.g., Charmin “Squeezably Soft”).
