Group Project, Part 1 2

Fast tracking

The ultimate goal for project managers is to establish a time frame, budgets and tasks and an expedited project deadline. This is a collaboration of work expedited by the project manager to get the job done. Fast tracking the project means the project manager will work simultaneously making alterations each task separately from start to finish. However, fast tracking can only be accomplished if the actual activities being expedited can be overlapped. Project management and project scheduling can be a major issue when time management and deadlines are not met. The project manager could fail the project if the task is still pending after the due date. A project that has a pending task or date could affect productivity for the whole project team.

Fast tracking the process means the project manager will deal with fast tracking the project vs. crashing the project. As project managers, on a daily basis we tend to deal with managing multiple projects, small and big, and time management. Yet most of the projects will be left unfinished according to their original schedules. When project managers need to revise a schedule the technique is the first issue to be considered. Fast tracking is a technique that does not include any costs. The fast tracking and crashing are two methods that allows the project manager to simply rearrange to shorten the time frame.

Crashing

Crashing is another technique to use when fast tracking did not allow extra time on the project deadline. Crashing can be expensive based on adding more resources to the project in a limited time frame. Graphing charts as a resource tool is the goal to identify and categorize the budget based on the lowest cost per unit. The second goal is time management to expedite the project sooner. Project managers should use the decision making techniques of controlling scope and the validating scope to successfully expedite this project.
