Informative Speech & Outline Assignment

Please submit the outline for your Informative Speech as an attachment in a Word document. Be certain that your outline includes a references page in APA format and a link to your speech posted on YouTube.

For this assignment, you will present an Informative Speech (think of it as teaching) to your audience of at least 4-6 adults about your topic of choice. Speeches that have audiences with fewer than 4 members cannot be accepted.

This must be a researchable topic. The goal of the speech, remember, is to inform. The goal is not to persuade.

Personal experience alone is not acceptable.

This speech must be no less than 4 minutes and no more than 6 minutes long. Please keep this in mind as you develop your outline.

In order to receive credit for your outline, you must include a references section, employ credible sources and use proper APA style formatting. You must employ a minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed sources. Using Google Scholar for your search will help ensure that your resources are credible.

When recording your speech, you must pan your audience with the camera once during your speech so that I can see that they are present and watching. Please avoid annoying noises or distractions. Please position the camera in a way that you are facing both your audience and the camera.

Editing is not permitted.

Please do not copy/paste your outline into the assignment text box as your formatting will not hold.

Please be sure to use note cards to facilitate eye contact with your audience and keep you on track as you speak.

Remember, I am here to help you, I want you to succeed, and you can do it! :)

A NOTE ABOUT TOPIC SELECTION:

We as faculty want you to choose speech topics that are of interest to you. However, some topics do not lend themselves to the brevity of the speeches you will be giving in this course. For this reason, you will want to avoid speech topics such as: abortion, gun control, and the death penalty. Topics like these are much too complex to address in such short speeches
