How to build the MPI Table in Access
1. Open the Access Database
2. Click on “External Data”
3. Click on “Excel”
4. Click on “Browse” and locate the Source Data file
5. Click on “open”
6. Make sure that “Import the source data into a new table in the current database” is selected
7. Click “ok”
8. Make sure that “Show Worksheets” is selected
9. Highlight (click on) “MPI”
10. Click “Next”
11. Make sure that “First Row Contains Column Headings” is checked
12. Click “Next”
13 Click on the column heading “MRNo” to highlight column
14. By using the drop down arrow, change Data type to read “Short Text”
15. By using the drop down arrow, Change “Indexed” to read “Yes (No Duplicates)”
16 Click “Next”
17. Make sure that “No primary key” is selected
18. Click “Next”
19 Name the Table “MPI”
20. Click Finish
21. Click “Close”
Your MPI table should now appear in the Access database under Tables
How to build the Admits table in Access

2. For Step 9, select “Admits”
3. Follow steps 10 through 14 in How to build the MPI table in Access
4. For Step 15, select “No”
5. Complete Step 16
6. For Step 17, select “Let Access add primary key”
7. Complete Step 18
8. In Step 19, name your table “Admits”
9. Complete Steps 20 and 21
Your database should now contain two tables
How to build remaining tables
Follow the same step above for the Admits table EXCEPT in Step 17, select “No primary key”
When you are done, you should have eight tables in your data base.
