The unit has impacted positively on my listening and brainstorming skills which was well barked by Idea generation (Think big) unit done this semester.

2 Reflecting on Performance (6 marks) 2.1 Defining success and failure a) What does success mean to you personally? According to me, success refers to the fulfilment of personal desires whilst following most of the rules set for the completion of the said quality within the specified time.
b) How did your project perform in relation to Cost, Time, Scope and Quality? My project is on people who are fighting for hunger by using eco friendly containers using areca leaf. Time schedule was followed and my project was completed within time. The project cost quite high compared to the budget cost. The cost has been sent to 5% more than the budget cost. The scope for the project was positively covered since it the said characteristics and project description were delivered and approved.
c) What can you learn from failures and can they ever be a positive thing? Failures provide a means through which a person learns from the mistakes he/she has made. There are lots of information which are hidden in success but are seen when failures come in. In addition, failures provide a complexed means from which people undertaking the project or anything else learn the correct way of creating and dealing with the problem.
d) How successful was your project in terms of how you define success for you? Success according to me is the fulfilment of personal desires. My project was designed so that it could meet my personal desires as seen in the project. Being a qualified farmer, I was able to achieve the desire of having delivered ecofriendly plastics to the consumer. Having done all that is possible to achieve this desire, I must say that I recorded success in the project.
2.2 What I achieved in PPMP20018 a) What did you hope to achieve (skills/knowledge/personal insights/ contacts etc.) during your time in this unit? -By undertaking this unit, I was more interested with achieving skills and knowledge about project management
b) What did you achieve by participating in this unit? -By undertaking a project, I was able to achieve putting into practice the skills and knowledge learnt in class which are seen to be useful in managing projects.
c) Reflecting on your answers above fill in the following table
Compare and discuss your answers to (a) and (b). Is there a difference between the two? What are the potential causes of any difference or similarity? How does this made you feel? What lessons I have learnt about myself from this experience?
There are no differences between the two answers. The reason which could be associated to the similarity is the increased concentration in class. In addition, understanding concepts and having the resilient desire to fulfil the project requirements and manage projects efficiently is seen to have resulted to the similarity recorded. I feel happy having taken part in the completion course and having successfully applied the concepts in the project. Some of the lessons I have learnt from myself and in this experience include: -I am capable of achieving what is needed for me. -I am able to concentrate fully in class. -I am capable of applying concepts learned in class in real time situation.
2.3 Your skills and abilities a) What do you believe are your major strengths?
-Self confidence -Team-work -Dependability

b) Discuss whether you able to utilise your strengths in the project. Include an explanation of how you were OR why you were not able to demonstrate them during your project.
-I was able to use many of the strengths in the completion of the project. Self-confidence was actively used in the way I was able to contain myself during the completion procedure of the project. -self-confidence in the undertaking of the project is seen to have been actively involved in the project since I was able to complete a project I had not initially tried to achieve within the same period -Dependability is seen to have been use during the project as I was able to achieve the project without the use of help from other unreliable sources. I was able to work within the specified framework with further help coming from relevant sources such as the professor.
3 Experiencing challenges in projects (10 marks) This unit was designed so you will experience several challenges that project managers face. These include tight timeframes, diverse teams and requirements that are not necessarily well defined. Being challenged places us under stress, to a certain point this increases performance. However, as stress increases it will start to diminish our performance. The challenging nature of the unit may have raised differing emotions, you may have felt overwhelmed, excited, frustrated, or a sense of achievement. You may have felt different emotions at different stages of the unit, this is perfectly normal when managing projects. Reflecting on how we each react to stress is important. It enables us to recognise when we are under stress and how we can manage our reactions effectively. Experiencing challenges of project management in the university context, although uncomfortable enables us to be better prepared for the realities of industry. For example, this unit allows you to make mistakes that are better experienced for first time at university than in industry. Can you think of something you wish you handled better this term? However, we only gain value if we reflect on our experiences and understand how we can utilise these learnings in future work environments. Complete the following table:
Challenge Situation
Describe your experience of the following concepts in the context of the unit, including whether you found this challenging or not.
Your Reaction
How did you react (note both feelings and actions) to the challenges?
Industry readiness
How does having this experience better prepare you for working in industry?
3.1 Dealing with the pressures of extremely tight timeframes and limited resources.

Tight schedules with limited resources is indeed a challenge in the management system. The experience I had with this kind of challenge resulted to a decline in the quality translating to a reduction in my competency level. The feeling elicited by this challenge was pure frustrations. I had to conduct my activities within the time frame. As a result, I had compromised on the quality of project delivered. I had to rush the project scope and incur more costs since it all depended on the amount of resources I was expected to use to successfully finish the project within the scheduled time. This experience provides the basic baseline which is used to determine some of the specifics required of me. I am well prepared and enabled to complete projects which are under tight scheduling. It has also provided me with techniques which I will apply in managing projects which are under resourced.
3.2 Dealing with team dynamics when team members may be diverse, have differing expectations and commitment.

Dealing with the problem in this challenge is not challenging at all. Diversity in project teams is a challenging situation which calls for the development of strategies which when implemented provide a perfect solution which will be able to identify some of the specifics of managing such teams. I was happy to have had the chance to deal with such a team. Meeting new individuals also made me feel excited. I had to teach the team members a common means of communication using a common language. I was also able to develop a strategy which included the inclusion of all individual within the specified timeline. I have gained all the needed qualifications which allows me to understand the relationship that should be created between project team members and the execution team. It also helped in understanding the diversity there is in the world which opens up opportunity to understand the difference cultural aspects and limitations in the world.
3.3 Defining an innovative solution for a social issue that is not your primary area of expertise.
It was quite a challenging task. Coming up with an innovative solution is a process which is commonly used to identify some of the possible means through which problems may be solved. Coming up with an innovative solution in education was however challenging for me since it does not provide any competence for delivery. I felt dashed with the challenge. The challenge expected me to come up with a research study on some of the major ways through which problems related to food security among the poor. I also had to struggle more with dealing with the problems which are associated with food scarcity and material unavailability. I had to approach professionals in that area which led to coming up with a new innovative solution. Innovation in a field which is not particular to my area of specification is seen to have an influence in professional practice and preparation for job in any other field. It is also seen to have advanced my research skills which are seen to affect competency in the delivery of projects.
3.4 Achieving project delivery for a social issue that is not your primary area of expertise.

This was not challenging task. A course in project management is meant to equip students with management techniques which will address projects from any scope. Project management uses specific contents which are applicable for all the projects. I felt comfortable with the task. I had to think in management within the scope of the project. I had to make a thinking within the context of the field in which the project is seen to have had influence on. Prepares for professional appointments in any field that there are various fields in which projects are deliverable.
3.5 Engaging with and eliciting feedback from stakeholders
This was not a challenging task. The experience of directly socializing with stakeholders is an important aspect in bring up successful projects. Stakeholder engagement is an aspect of project management and should be practiced. The challenge elicited enthusiasm in me. I had to seek ways through which I would approach the stakeholders. I also had to maintain a professional relationship with the stakeholders. Obtaining permits to use ecofriendly resources and remodelling them to look like other plastic containers also called me to take action of engaging with the stakeholders involved. Prepared me to seek professional guidance with the stakeholders which translates to a more specific stakeholder relationship within project management practices.

5 Action and Next Steps (10 Marks) 5.1 Action

During the unit you were asked to embrace an action mindset. We are challenging you to do the same. You must complete the actions and submissions for one of the options. Some options will provide a choice of actions to complete. Submission act both as evidence of completion of a task and need sufficient details to enable them to be checked, e.g. if you speak to someone provide their details including name, organisation and contact details.

It is better to act in a small way that takes you one step further long your career path than have big plans that are never actioned. Do not submit an extravagant plan or fictionalised exaggeration, as it will waste your time and marks. Choose the option that you can gain value from and is achievable.

Choose one of the following options:

Option 1. Apply for a job

Option 2. Build your profile

Do’s

It is important to conduct research about the company making offering the job. This will give an insight of some of the working conditions which one will be faced with when working for the company.

It is also important to read the job description carefully and clearly identify whether the applicant is compliant to the requirements of the work and can be able to clearly meet the roles expected of him in the job.

Don’ts

Never be in a hurry to make job applications. It would mean that the job advertisement is not well reviewed before the submission of the application letter.

Never include social media account information in the job application unless it is asked for as a mandatory inclusion in the letter. In case it is asked for, make sure you update the information contained in these accounts.

a) Building your CV

Work / career related action to add to your Curriculum Vitae (CV).

Adding professional practice in the field of project management.

b) Finding Balance

Fun / exciting activity that you have never done before (does not need to be work related)

Coming up with a more peculiar way of having fun, going on a road trip with friends to cover most of the tourist attraction sites in Australia.
