Running Head: AUDIENCE ANALYSIS 1

Audience Analysis

Target Audience: “American criminal justice system”

Demographics: the entire criminal justice system that ranges from the court system, the law enforcement system, the community and the corrections departments.

The View Point: the issue of police brutality in the United States has been existent for a long time and there needs to come up with reviews to amend the issue. The police brutality has become a race issue whereby there is white privilege that gives the white people an added advantage in the society. The entire criminal justice system is reflecting on the white privilege and racism because the African Americans and other minorities make up the most population in the correction systems. The criminal justice system should play its role of being fair and impartial not protecting and upholding the favors of the few given that there is a constitution proclaiming democracy.

The Argument: White people in the country get away with so many crimes and with shorter sentences because of the break in the system that is not appropriate. A White individual and an African American individual commit the same crime will not get the same attention and sentencing because of the race and the leniency of the criminal justice system towards the Whites. The criminal justice system in the country is failing especially if there are approximately 1,000 people dying in a year as a result of police misconduct. The criminal justice system has to endure some serious changes and shuffles that will help increase fairness and impartiality because it is losing its stands and appeal among the people. People are losing their trust in the system which is not appropriate because it will then become a major threat to democracy in the country.

My View Point: America is a country greater than an individual race with one of the oldest constitutions in the entire world. The country’s criminal justice system is functioning poorly and it requires some proper considerations to amend the ongoing challenges. Numerous people especially from the minorities are dying at the hands of the police that should be protecting them. The racial differences should not have an opportunity in the criminal justice system because it is leading to the people that should uphold the law breaking it. It is evident and there is proof that Whites have it easy in the country in almost all sectors and their cases despite how crude, do not get the same sentencing. The police officers do not stop White people and handle them in the same manner that they do with the African Americans because there is biasness in the system and it is concerning especially because they are all citizens.

My Argument: The United States is one of the most ethnic diverse countries in the world but it is not working to protect the interests of all the people. Some of the people in the country are living at the mercy of the same system that should protect them. The court systems, the law enforcement, correction systems are all failing to perform their duties impartially and fairly because they are practicing racism and entertaining aspects such as white privilege to thrive. The law enforcement is killing numerous African Americans and other minor races each year instead of making sure that they protect them. The court systems are also sentencing and putting numerous African Americans in prison for crimes that Whites get away with proving that it is an unjust system.
