Assignment Objectives: • The objectives of this assignment are to provide you with an opportunity to create a crisis plan so you will become familiar with it and so you will be able to create similar plans in the future. • Pretend you are completing this plan for the organization you select and not just as a course assignment. How to approach this assignment: 1. Pleas e read the description under Assignment 3 on Moodle. This describes the contents of a good crisis plan. You do NOT need to create your own plan from nothing as you will use a template. 2. Download and use the plan template that is provided under Assignment 3 on Moodle. This will become the plan document you hand in. The plan is a generic plan (i.e. template) provided by the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness. Be sure to download the Microsoft Word version because you will have to modify this document t o suit the organization you select. 3. Decide what organization you will use for your plan. Use an organization you already know about -- perhaps the organization where you work, did work, volunteer or did volunteer. You'll need to know details about the orga nization, which hopefully you already know. 4. Select an organization that is not massive (because that would really complicate your plan).

For example, perhaps you worked at Starbucks, but don't select Starbucks because it is too large a company. Instead pic k one Starbucks location, e.g. the Starbucks location in Westshore Town Centre in Langford. Open and re view the Microsoft Word version of the template from the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness. 6. For example, on page 2 under the heading "Purpose of the Plan" you'll see the statement "". At a minimum, these <…> portions of the document are what you need to modify to ensure this plan relates to the organization you selected. 7. Add information into the plan in these <…> sections that is relevant to the organization you have selected. Remember to do this for the appendices as well. For example, you would have to identify a location, directions, layout and supplies for the Emergency Operations Centre f or your organization as part of Appendix B.
