After a general tour of the various rooms or wings of the museum, isolate on up to three (3) objects, paintings or sculptures to analyze.

  1. First, title and describe the object.

Materials, size, time period, style, colors, etc.


II. Secondly, attempt to understand the painter’s “message”—what do you think he/she is trying to convey? How?

III. Lastly, analyze your own response to the work. Why did you select it?

Find a painting, object or sculpture that you find intriguing.

Next, imagine that you are in some way a part of the selection.

You may project yourself into the painting. Or

You may imagine yourself the subject of the piece of art. Or

You may have an imaginary conversation about the work of art with the artist.
